Friday morning, Conor made his way to Dreadnaught Law Firm. Mr. Nuri and the team said they had the office space mostly complete and that by Monday he would be able to start using the space. Upon arrival, Ana was the one to walk him through the new office. They took the elevator to the fourth floor and the doors opened to reveal a long reception desk with sweeping letters illuminated on the wall behind it 'Volkrizin'.
"Very impressive."
Ana walked him to the left, where the hall circled the center of the floor. The entire center area had been converted into three conference rooms with glass walls, and a staff lounge with a kitchen directly behind the elevators. The outer walls were lined with offices.
"Down this hall will be the executive wing. This will be for the upper management, and with your permission, Jarad, myself, and Abby have each designed an office along here. The back corner office is your personal area."
Ana opened the door in the far corner to reveal a huge room that looked out over the lake.
"We took the liberty to also include a private bathroom as part of this suite so once everything is complete over the weekend and desks are installed, it will be able to act as a small apartment should you need it. By Monday it will be fully finished with a bed as well."
Ana continued the tour explaining that on the executive side there were two central conference rooms, and then through a set of double doors the rest of the offices as they continued around the outer edge of the floor. "Here we can expand with over eight additional offices, each equipped to handle the upper staff of a business. This could effectively house your headquarters for several future expansions. There is also a full boardroom, equipped to seat over thirty people."
"Excellent work Miss. Brooks."
Ana beamed at the praise. "You can call me Ana if you wish, Mr. Brantley."
Conor smiled at that, "Ana, then. I do have a task for you. With our new company opening Monday, I would like you to find some additional personnel. A secretary for starters, but also, being that your specialty is real estate, I think it would be advantageous for us to have a division of Vokrizin devoted to real estate. Focus on profitable commercial and rental properties. It will not be much but use 300,000 dragons from the NewAge deal as the seed money to begin. Remember that there is sometimes just as much profit in facilitating the sales of real estate as there is in simply owning and renting it."
"Yes of course Mr. Brantley! I would be thrilled to head that up for you!"
"See what agents in the area you might be able to poach for now, but I think you will be able to build your own team quickly once we launch. Also, I will be talking with Peter Miros about a partnership business. While AperturePhoto already falls under the Vokrizin umbrella, I believe there is an opportunity for a separate division that is solely dedicated to marketing and advertising. Some of Peter's photographers will be able to freelance for that division but we will need a dedicated team of marketers and designers. This will also benefit your real estate team as they create ads for new building sales and any other marketing you may need."
"I will see to it. Mr. Nuri will be thrilled and I will be sure to have the new contracts drawn up by Monday. Mr. Brantley... Thank you."
"For what?"
"Mr. Nuri always told us if we were faithful to Celia, we would be able to move up quickly. Well, our team has worked together off and on under Mr. Nuri now for over four years. There really have not been many opportunities to actually move up and we were each starting to fear being paralegals forever. Don't get me wrong, Mr. Nuri is a brilliant man and treats us all very well. However, we each specialize in fields that we only have been able to dabble along the edges of so far depending on which clients came in. This is the first opportunity we have had where we know we will be able to apply everything we have and truly help a company grow."
Conor smiled, "I am pleased that you are so excited about the opportunity. I look forward to working with you to make this company something Bayan has never seen before."
As they returned to the elevators, Anna tried to suppress a coy grin, "Anything you ever need, Mr. Brantley, day or night, you just need to ask."
Conor felt a card slide into his jacket pocket as the elevator doors opened.
"Anna"
"Yes?" She said looking up almost hopefully.
"Last week, Mr. Nuri mentioned I should get a car. I have been walking or using a taxi quite a bit and a car of my own would be helpful. Any suggestions on where I should go to get one?"
"I am always available if you need a ride, Mr. Brantley. However, if you are looking for a company car, there is a Wyvern dealer and a Druk dealership on the south side of town past the docks. They sell everything from used cars to some of the most expensive Drakon model cars in the area."
"Hmm. Care to help me pick one out?"
"I can Monday. Shall I pick you up? The office will be ready then. We can pick a car, and then register it with the new office and show you how it all looks." Anna asked.
"Sounds like a plan. I will clear it with Mr. Matthews but I should be able to get off by noon from Jackson's."
