Rejected Billionaire

Chapter 54

Ch. 54 / 97 Sep 27, 2024

A few hours later, Conor was startled as he walked up to his new apartment to see the workers moving things back into the truck. "What's going on guys? Did the code not work?"

"No Mr. Brantley. Some woman is in there yelling about speaking to the owner and that we shouldn't be moving furniture during business hours. Honestly, I think she is cracked, but she was threatening to call the cops if we didn't leave."

"There is a woman in my house, and she wants to call the police?"

"Yep. Crazy lady at that. she pushed her way past us as soon as we unlocked."

"Then why didn't you call the police?" Conor asked, bewildered as he pulled out his own phone. He began to dial the emergency number but called Parker instead, "I need you at my place asap. Someone is causing trouble."

"I will be there in five."

Conor then went ahead and dialed the emergency number. Crazy lady wanted the police, so why not. After he was assured police were on their way, he made his way inside to see who this troublemaker was. To his disappointment, it wasn't anyone he knew just having a joke at his expense. Instead, some middle-aged lady with short, cropped hair was standing in his still empty living room berating the last of the poor movers.

"How could you be moving all this stuff in during business hours! What kind of place would have deliveries when a client has an appointment?!"

Conor's mouth hung open at her sheer audacity. "Lady, the kind that ISN'T a business! Get the hell out of my house!"

"House? No, I am here for my appointment. You are late. What kind of customer service is this? I have half a mind to walk out and never come back."

"Yes, please do that."

"You still owe me for my wasted time. I was here at 12 sharp, and you were no were to be found."

"Lady! This is my house! My private residence. I don't have a clue who you are or what you think you are going to accomplish standing in my living room but get the hell out."

"But I have an appointment with you."

"No, you don't. Who were you expecting?" Conor asked, totally bewildered.

"You. You are the private tax preparer, it says so on your door."

"Lady, the door says Private Property. This is my home, not a tax office."

"But this is the address."

Conor stared at her incredulously. "Lady, for the last time, get. The. FUCK. Out. Of. My. House!"

"You don't have to be so rude to a customer. It's a wonder you stay open."

"THIS IS MY HOUSE NOT AN OFFICE!"

Parker rushed in as Conor finished, "I am here, sir." Conor smirked as he watched Parker size up the lady and dismiss her as a non-threat.

"Parker, please help escort this lady out of my house and make sure she understands not to come back."

"Of course." Parker stepped forward and firmly gripped the lady's wrist. She began to yell about assault as two police officers entered.

"Unhand the lady NOW!" called the officers, both reaching for batons.

Conor frowned at the officers, "Gentlemen, if you would like to be the ones to escort this lady out of my house, be my guest. My security officer was doing so because you were not here."

"Security Officer? Just because he is your bodyguard doesn't mean you can assault a lady." One of the officers said.

Conor just stared slack jawed as the lady started into a wild tale about how she had come here for an appointment and then was assaulted. She kept demanding compensation for her time.

"Lady, I can help you write up an assault charge, but I cannot help you with your missing money for prostitution." The officer finally said, trying to calm her down.

She froze, midsentence and glared at the officer. To everyone's shock she sidled up to him. SLAP! A bright right hand mark appeared across the officers face. "Don't you dare call me a prostitute. I had an appointment with a private tax assessor, not some John."

The officer's partner suddenly came to a realization, likely that Conor had been telling the truth after all, and grabbed her wrist and slapped a set of cuffs on her. "Assault on a public officer is a serious offense lady. You can come downtown with us now."

"What?! But I still need to get my taxes done! And what about that man's assault on me?"

Conor waved at the officer to catch his attention, "Yeah, hello, so I am the home OWNER, and in case you officers also have not figured out where you are, this is my house. I want her charged with trespassing as well. As for any assault charges, you can refer that to my lawyer, Mr. Liam Nuri, of Dreadnaught Law Firm." Conor handed over a card with Mr. Nuri's information.

The officer's eyes bugged out as they realized they were in the residence of someone very important. "Umm, right. Well, we will handle her from here Mr... what is your name?"

"Brantley, CEO and President of the Vokrizin Group."

The officer licked his lips as he considered how to proceed. "Right, Mr. Brantley... I am sorry about this. Of course we can direct any further questions to Mr. Nuri. I will get this lady out of your hair now." They made a hasty exit, dragging the deranged woman with them, who was still screaming about assault and lawsuits.

"Good luck, crazy lady." called Parker, "Damn, sir, you attract some interesting ones."

Conor chuckled, "Parker, if you will go instruct the movers to get back to work, I will make a call and get someone to bring us some beers. Sound good?"

Parker smiled, "Sounds like a plan to me!" and he headed out to direct the movers.

When the furniture was finally in, Conor handed Parker a beer. "Your first task, get me some new locks, and cameras. Lots of fucking cameras."

Parker shook his head and laughed. "Don't worry, sir. Now that you are officially moving in, we can renovate the security here in short order. Today's unfortunate event should not repeat itself."

"Good." Conor tapped glasses with Parker and collapsed onto one of his new sofa's. "Now all I need is a tv."

A while later, Conor wandered over to his back window. While the view was interesting, it was still city and not the green of nature he longed for. He decided he should likely give Mr. Nuri a heads up about what had happened. he pulled out his phone and dials.

Mr. Nuri picked up quickly and Conor filled him in. "You will likely get a call from the detective at some point."

"Do you want me to push for maximum sentencing?" Mr. Nuri asked.

Conor considered for a moment, "She needs help more than anything. Perhaps I was a bit hot-headed when I told the cops to charge her, but if it goes to court, maybe we can suggest the charges stand but instead of any kind of fine or jail time, she has to seek counseling and have a healthy dose of community service. maybe even at the community center."

"Very good, sir. I have a counselor in mind as well that I can suggest to the court. I will have it handled, no worries."

"Thank you, Mr. Nuri."
