Never Just Friends

A Kiss to Remember

Ch. 286 / 300 Mar 01, 2026

As they pulled apart, breathless and with hearts pounding, Hanna rested her head on Finn’s chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. The night sky above them seemed endless, and for the first time in a long time, she felt like everything was exactly as it should be.

“I’ve never felt this sure of anything,” Hanna whispered, her voice soft but filled with conviction. “Of us.”

Finn’s hand gently caressed her back, his touch grounding her. “Neither have I,” he replied, his voice steady and warm. “We’ve been through so much, but here we are, stronger than ever.”

Hanna smiled, feeling a sense of peace she hadn’t known in the chaos of the past months. The storm was behind them, and what lay ahead was a future they would build together.

“I’m ready for it all,” she said, her voice full of resolve. “Whatever comes next, I’m ready as long as it’s with you.”

Finn kissed the top of her head. “And you’ll always be with me,” he said, his words a promise that rang in her ears. “No matter what.”

They lay there for a long while, the world around them quiet and still, but inside, everything was alive with the certainty that they would face whatever challenges came their way—together.

In the silence, Hanna felt the weight of the past slip away, leaving only the present, and the love that held them both.

Later that evening, as Hanna and Emily sat together in their favorite café, sipping coffee and chatting, Hanna couldn’t help but notice how at ease Emily seemed. She’d been glowing ever since her date with Jacob, and it made Hanna feel a surge of happiness for her best friend.

“I’m really glad you’re giving this a chance,” Hanna said, watching Emily’s face light up. “You deserve someone who makes you feel this way.”

Emily smiled softly, her fingers tracing the rim of her cup. “I don’t know what I was afraid of before. I think I just needed to let go of the past, you know?”

Hanna nodded, understanding exactly what she meant. “I think we both do. But sometimes, moving forward feels so much better than holding on to what’s behind us.”

“I’m realizing that,” Emily said, her voice quiet but determined. “And I think I’m finally ready for it.”

Hanna reached over and squeezed her friend’s hand, her heart swelling with pride. “You are, Em. You’ve always been ready. And now, you’re going to let yourself have it.”

Emily smiled, squeezing Hanna’s hand in return. “Thanks for always being there for me. I don’t know where I’d be without you.”

“You don’t have to do anything alone,” Hanna said with a grin. “I’m always here.”

As they sat there, enjoying the warmth of their friendship and the peaceful moment between them, Hanna realized just how far they’d both come. From the chaos of their past to this quiet, hopeful future, they had both found something beautiful. And together, they would continue to move forward, embracing everything life had to offer.
