Third Person's POV
"Moira, I can't shake this guilt. I can't bear the pressure of my mom being locked up and still want to enjoy Leo's kindness. It's too painful. So, I've decided to end this relationship. I know it's cowardly, but I need to get it over with," Sunny said with a self-mocking smile, shocking Moira again.
"Sunny, why would you do this? If Leo loves you, he'll forgive you. Why leave?"
Moira was worried and heartbroken, fearing Sunny was making a mistake.
"Not all love stories have happy endings. I used to think love had to lead to happiness, but some things are out of our control. Our feud, though not our doing, ties us together. Can we really love each other in good conscience?"
Sunny's eyes welled up. She dared not dwell on their relationship. Memories of Leo flooded her mind, causing her unbearable pain.
Moira looked into her eyes and sighed, "Alright, if you've thought it through, I support you. I've raised you for over twenty years—I don't want to see you in pain."
"Thank you, Moira. I'll book a flight tonight. I believe Leo will look for me. If he finds you, please keep it from him for a few days. Once I'm abroad, I might settle in a remote town," Sunny said, determined to disappear so Leo couldn't find her.
Otherwise, her decision would be meaningless.
"Fine, but you must stay in touch. I need to know you're safe!" Moira's main concern was Sunny's well-being.
"I will. You might be the only person I can contact anymore." Sunny smiled through her pain.
"I'll keep an eye on your mom. Do you want to see her before you leave?" Moira asked softly.
"What good would that do? She'd only feel guilty. I'll come back to see her someday, but for now, I can't," Sunny replied.
She had actually visited the police station but didn't see Olivia and didn't want to ask Leo for help.
"Alright, if you don't want to see her, that's your choice. By the way, I have something for you before you leave."
Moira opened her wallet and took out a bank card. "This isn't my money—it's Olivia's. She saved it for you. I don't know the exact amount, but it's substantial."
"I can't take it!" Sunny looked at the card with mixed feelings.
"Foolish girl, just take it. It's from Olivia. She'd be hurt if you refuse. The PIN is your birthday," Moira pressed the card into Sunny's hand.
"Okay," Sunny said, putting it in her bag.
"Moira, take care. I'm leaving." Sunny smiled, turned, and walked away.
Tears welled in Moira's eyes—she felt like a mother watching her daughter grow up and leave, a bittersweet moment. All she could do was wish Sunny happiness.
True to her nature, Sunny didn't allow herself any second thoughts.
She packed a suitcase, took a taxi to the airport, bought a ticket to a country she'd always wanted to visit, and paused only briefly at the gate.
After two seconds of hesitation, she stepped forward.
Catherine was backstage at a live event, helping several female celebrities with their outfits.
Despite being a recognized high-society wife, her dedicated work ethic earned everyone's respect.
The female stars, though tempted to cause trouble, kept a low profile around Catherine.
Their diamonds paled next to hers; their clothes couldn't compare. They resigned themselves to treating her with the respect due to a designer.
After finishing her work, Catherine accepted a bottle of water from her assistant and took a sip. "We're done here. Let's head back to the company."
"Sure!" The assistant quickly packed up their things.
As they walked toward the exit, Catherine spotted a familiar face—Troy.
He seemed to be waiting for her.
"Catherine!" Troy approached quickly.
Catherine had grown steadier over the years, having learned composure from Blake.
"Why are you here?" she asked coolly.
"I came to see you. You didn't invite me to your wedding. Are you still holding a grudge?" Troy asked with a sad expression.
