I headed out the door to the car with my mind on our return. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. I couldn’t see a lot of changes taking place but there would be change. I had to stop worrying about it but with all of our bags in the back of the car, we were ready to go. It didn’t matter if I was ready, it was happening.
I’d helped Jake and Viktor this morning after our last meal here. I was already missing the fresh mountain air and freedom I felt up here. When we arrived everything was uncertain and my life felt as if it were falling apart. Now that I’m leaving it feels like everything is in its place.
Mentally, I wrote a list of what I needed to focus on when we got back. I’d need to join in on the runs, possibly reach out to Clara, and tell Jamie about us. As Gamma, she would be around us more and I’d rather tell her than her find out.
The guys weren’t too fond of the Clara idea but I was optimistic. I shouldn’t have been so excited about seeing her again but I felt like I’d made a friend in her. Looking back to when I first met her, I never would have thought that could happen but she didn’t decide that.
Clara did not choose to be destined mates with Viktor. That was out of her control and honestly had to suck. Do you know what else is out of control? My gift. She was the only person who came to mind that could actually help me with my flames. I was not in a position to be picky with who helped.
Jake himself had been quiet since after breakfast. I knew things were going to change but I hoped he remembered that we were his at much as he was ours. I hopped in the back with Jake as Viktor got into the driver’s seat. Jake wasn’t sure about not driving but I loved that Viktor wanted to take care of him.
Jake sat beside me, looking forward while I started eye fucking him. Jake had on white shorts and a short-sleeve brown shirt on and my eyes kept dipping to the veins in his arm. There was something about a muscular arm with veins.
I couldn’t imagine being this happy. My heart was close to bursting and I sighed. I couldn’t ask for more. Jake grabbed my hand and laced our fingers together. I sighed as my heart danced to a happy tune. I leaned my head against his shoulder as Viktor backed out and away from our little cabin. We needed a break every now and then. Viktor’s eyes found me in the rear-view mirror and he knew I was sad to leave.
“We’ll be back,” he promised. The words were comforting and I nodded in response. We would be and I looked forward to the day we did.

The car came to a stop and I stretched as Jake hopped out. We were home. The sky was clear and bright blue. The sun was shining strongly and the warmth caressed my skin as I stepped out. I closed my eyes for a moment, turned my face towards the sun, and drank it in. I hoped to Goddess the sun stuck around because I love warm weather.
We’d be meeting up with Jamie for a meeting and I just hoped today would go well. I looked over the driveway and noticed her coming out. Viktor’s door shut behind him and his eyes followed my gaze. He nodded when he saw his sister.
Viktor and Jake both looked happy but I couldn’t help but feel tension coil tightly inside of me. I wasn’t sure what she’d think about the three of us but her opinion mattered to me. She was Viktor’s sister and our Gamma. I wanted to get to know her more, I wanted to feel accepted.
“Good afternoon, Gamma,” Viktor said.
She nodded back. “Hey, Vik,” Jamie said with a slight bow.
“Hey, Jamie. Did you miss us?” Jake asked. Jamie scoffed and rolled her eyes.
“Definitely not you. It’s been nice and quiet. I was hoping to see you guys here
“Quiet is boring and you know it. Where’s the fun in that?” Jake asked. Jamie rolled her eyes and linked arms with me.
“Welcome back,” Jamie said. I leaned into her.
“Thanks, it’s good to be back.”
“Did you have fun?” Jamie asked Jake. Jake avoided eye contact but the blush couldn’t be missed. He was so cute I wanted to tease him.
“Yes, I had fun.”
Viktor opened the back of the car and Jake helped him unload. Jamie’s eyes followed Jake before turning on me. Her eyes were bright and lit with suspicion. We started walking towards the packhouse. She leaned in and whispered into my ear.
“Honestly, I was worried he wouldn’t come back with you guys. Viktor’s temper is no joke and I wasn’t sure how Jake would survive your little trip.”
I gasped. I didn’t know what to say. Did she know about what happened that night?
“How did you know?” I whispered.
“I didn’t but you just confirmed my suspicions. I was there that night too, you remember that right?” She laughed. “I saw you guys leave and the look in Jake’s eyes said more than enough.” It was my turn to blush. “Don’t worry, I’m not judging. That’s not what’s happening right now.”
“I was worried you would,” I said. “A lot has happened while we were gone and we were all worried about how the pack would take it.”
“I don’t know what happened but you guys look happy. All I’ve ever wanted was my brother’s happiness,” Jamie whispered. “He deserves it and you’ve made him happy. I feel relieved knowing it worked out and don’t worry about the pack. They’ll accept their Alpha’s word and follow it.
