The tension has become suffocating throughout these days. Three people orbiting each other with too much want and not enough words.
It's Theron who finally snaps.
"This is ridiculous." He throws his hands up at dinner, fork clattering against his plate. "We've got a beautiful woman staying with us and we're acting like someone died. Let's have a proper welcome party for Raven, drink some beers, and actually enjoy ourselves for once."
I glance at Weston, expecting him to shut this down immediately.
His expression darkens. Fingers tighten around his fork until his knuckles go white.
"I don't drink." His voice is flat, final. "You know what happens when I do."
"One night, West." Theron leans forward, eyes bright with challenge. "When's the last time you let yourself breathe? You've been wound so tight for years I'm surprised you haven't snapped in half."
"That's not—"
"It is." Theron's tone softens, just barely. "One night. That's all I'm asking. For Raven."
They stare at each other, tension crackling between them. I stay quiet, sensing years of history beneath this argument.
Something happened when Weston drank before. Something bad enough that he built walls around it.
Finally, Weston exhales. Something in him surrendering. "Fine." He pushes back from the table. "One night. But don't say I didn't warn you."
Theron's grin could light up the whole county.
Twenty minutes later, the living room has transformed. Furniture pushed against walls, an old radio crackling country songs, and bottles covering the coffee table.
Whiskey. Beer. Cheap wine Theron claims he's been saving for a special occasion.
"To Raven," Theron announces, raising his glass. "For making this ranch a hell of a lot more interesting."
"To poor life choices," I counter, clinking my bottle against his.
Weston just grunts and takes a reluctant sip of beer.
I start slow, but the warmth spreads quickly. Loosening muscles I didn't know were clenched. Softening edges I forgot were sharp. Theron matches me drink for drink, his laughter growing louder and more infectious with every round.
Weston resists longer. Nursing his first beer in brooding silence while Theron and I trade increasingly ridiculous stories.
"So there I am," Theron gasps between laughs, "covered head to toe in pig manure, and the photographer just keeps shooting."
"You did not."
"Swear to God. Ended up on the front page of the county paper. 'Local Man Loses Battle With Swine.'"
I'm laughing so hard my stomach hurts. Even Weston's mouth twitches.
"Drink up, brother." Theron refills Weston's glass before he can refuse. "You're falling behind."
"I'm pacing myself."
"You're being boring." Theron shoves the glass into his hand. "Come on. One night. You promised."
Something shifts in Weston's expression. Defeat, maybe. Or permission. And he drains the glass in one long swallow.
I watch the transformation happen gradually over the next hour.
The rigid set of his shoulders softens. The permanent furrow between his brows smooths out. He leans back into the couch, sprawling in a way I've never seen, taking up space like he's finally allowing himself to exist fully.
His laugh, when it comes, is low and rusty from disuse. But real.
"Truth or dare," Theron announces, eyes glinting with mischief. "Come on. It'll be fun."
"What are we, teenagers?" I protest, but I'm already grinning.
"Best ideas come from teenagers." He settles onto the floor, crossing his legs. "Raven. Truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"Boring." He considers for a moment. "What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done on a film set?"
"Easy. Tripped on my dress during a wedding scene, grabbed my co-star for balance, and we both crashed into the five-tier prop cake. On live television."
Theron howls at that and even Weston chuckles, the sound warm and unexpected.
The game starts tame. Embarrassing childhood stories. Silly dares.
Theron has to sing the national anthem in an operatic voice. I have to do my best impression of a chicken. Weston reluctantly admits he once cried at a commercial about puppies.
But the alcohol keeps flowing. And boundaries keep dissolving.
"Dare," I say, feeling reckless.
Theron's smile sharpens. "Sit in Weston's lap. For the rest of the game."
My heart stutters and I glance at Weston, expecting him to object. But he just watches me with these tempting storm-blue eyes, dark and unreadable.
I cross the room on unsteady legs and lower myself onto his thighs. His hands find my waist immediately, settling there with a possessiveness that steals my breath. Warm. Certain. Like they belong.
"Comfortable?" Theron asks, clearly enjoying this.
"Very," Weston murmurs against my ear, and I shiver.
"My turn." I try to steady my voice. "Weston. Truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"When's the last time you wanted someone?"
The question escapes before I can stop it. Too bold. Too revealing.
Weston doesn't hesitate, apparently the filter is completely gone.
"Right now." His grip tightens on my hip. "Every damn day since you showed up wearing my wife's clothes and looking at me like that."
The confession hangs in the air. Raw. Shocking. Sober Weston would never have said it and Theron whistles low. "Well, well. The walls come down."
"Shut up." But there's no heat in Weston's voice. Just exhaustion. Relief.
The questions grew bolder after that and some unspoken barriers completely shattered.
"Truth," Theron says when his turn comes. "Have I thought about Raven in the shower?" He grins, shameless. "Every single morning since she got here."
Heat floods my cheeks. And other places.
"Truth," Weston admits, his thumb tracing slow circles on my hip. "It's been four years since I've touched a woman."
Four years. Since his wife…?
"Truth," I hear myself say. "I've only been with one man. A co-star my father approved of. It was..." I search for the word. "Mechanical. Like we were both following a script nobody actually wanted to read."
Silence falls. Heavy with implication.
"That's criminal," Theron murmurs, honey eyes dark. "Someone like you deserves to be worshipped."
Weston makes a low sound of agreement, his breath warm against my neck.
The game continues and each truth is more intimate than the last. Each dare is more charged and tempting. I feel like I’m losing my mind.
Theron admits he's jealous of Weston's ability to shut people out. Weston confesses he's jealous of Theron's ease with connection. I reveal that I've never had an orgasm with another person, only alone.
Both brothers looked at me like I've just issued a personal challenge.
"Your dare, Raven," Theron commands me. "Kiss Weston. Really kiss him."
I turn in Weston's lap, cupping his face with trembling hands. His eyes search mine for permission while I close the distance by myself.
The kiss starts tentative. Testing. But then his hand fists in my hair and he tilts my head back and suddenly there's nothing tentative about it. He kisses like he's drowning and I'm oxygen. Desperate and consuming.
When we break apart, we're both breathing hard.
Theron watches us with an expression I can't read. Want and something deeper. Something patient.
"Truth," I manage, still dizzy.
"Have you thought about us?" His voice is rough. "Both of us. Together."
My face flames. The alcohol makes me honest. "Yes…"
The word drops between us. Confession and invitation.
Then Theron leans forward, his smile turning wicked. His honey eyes lock onto mine with devastating focus.
"Truth, Raven," he says slowly, savoring each syllable. "Have you ever thought about having a threesome?"
