Marrying My Twin's CEO Daddy

CH 96: Confession

Ch. 96 / 98 Nov 19, 2024

Jay Lee’s POV

As I was about to leave the workroom, my cell phone suddenly rang. Ah, it was an incoming call from Tom. If Tom was calling me in the middle of the night like this, he must have a special reason.

“Yes, Tom. What’s up?” I answered.

“Jay, I’m sorry to call you in the middle of the night like this, and I’m sorry to disturb your rest. I have some good news,” he replied. His voice sounded cheerful.

“It’s okay. I was just about to go to bed. What’s the good news about?” I asked curiously.

“Megan came here and confessed to everything she did. After searching for so long, she finally came in person and confessed everything. Now she’s in the interrogation room with some policewomen. While her male friend waits in the waiting room,” Tom replied.

“Re-really? Didn’t I hear wrong?” I asked for confirmation.

“No, you didn’t. Come here tomorrow morning. Oh, and when will your wife give birth?” Tom asked.

“Next month. That’s why I want this case to end soon so that Piper can give birth in peace. Everything Megan has done has affected my wife mentally. In that case, I’ll be there tomorrow morning. Thank you for your hard work.”

“Let’s get everything done as soon as possible. Have a good rest. See you tomorrow,” he replied.

Finally, this tangled thread can be tidied up and found an end. I just want my family to live a quiet and happy life. I hope Megan gets the punishment she deserves.

However, there was one thing that still bothered me. Did Megan come to the police station herself and confess all her evil deeds? What prompted her to do that? Hopefully, this wasn’t part of her cheap trick.

I rushed up to the second floor to tell Piper about it. She would surely jump for joy when she heard this news. However, when I walked into the room, she was already fast asleep and I didn’t have the heart to wake her up.

Lately, her body had been looking skinner, and sometimes I saw her eyes were puffy. When I asked her what happened or how she was feeling, she only replied that she was fine. I knew she wasn’t okay. The news about how her father died affected her. It has devastated her.

Several times she told me that on the night of the incident, she and Karen were waiting for Martin to come home from Greenmore. It was sunny, and they didn’t have any premonitions. An hour before midnight, while Piper was asleep on the couch, Karen got a call from the police saying that Martin had been in an accident. The car he was driving hit a road divider and went into a ravine.

Karen fainted and a waitress who saw this immediately screamed hysterically, waking everyone up. Then, two police officers came to Helen’s mansion, told her the news, and asked them to come to the police station to give some informations.

Helen fainted when she heard that her beloved son had died. A few hours later, when they woke up from their stupor, their cries could be heard echoing throughout the house. Piper admitted that in shock and disbelief that her father had died, she just sat there and didn’t cry. She hoped it was just a dream. But it had happened, and it left Karen, Helen, and Piper with tremendous grief and hurt.

I lay beside her and caressed her sweet face. Apparently, I woke her up. It surprised me when she got up and said, “I thought you were asleep. Let’s go to bed.”

“Piper, I have something to tell you. But, if you’re so sleepy, we’d better talk in the morning,” I said.

Her eyes were still half open. She still looked very sleepy and not fully awake. She turned around and tried to open her eyes wider. Looking at me and yawning widely, she said, “What’s wrong? You sound serious.”

“It’s about Megan.”

Now her eyes were fully open. She looked at me with a curious gaze.

“Did the police find her?” she asked as she reached for the glass and sipped the mineral water.

“More precisely, she came to the police station herself and confessed to everything she did. Tom asked me to come to the police station tomorrow morning. Do you want to come?”

“Yes. I have to go. But why did she turn herself into the police? What and who pushed her to do that?” she asked.

“I don’t know, and I haven’t asked Tom about it. We’ll find out tomorrow at the police station,” I replied as I hugged her body. Piper hugged me back.

“Don’t be sad anymore. I was so worried about you and our baby. I think now your father can rest easy in heaven because Megan finally confessed and will receive the punishment she deserves. Let’s start all over again and plan for our family. I love you and the kids very much,” I said as I kissed her head a few times.

“Sorry for making you worry and thank you for your love for us. We love you too. From this moment on, I will try to forget all the terrible memories for your sake. Oh, I have an idea,” she replied.

I broke the hug and looked into her eyes. “What is it? Tell me.”

“Can we stay at the resort for a while after I give birth? I just want a new and calm atmosphere. After all, the resort is ours and the twins are still in their school vacation period. But, if you object, that’s fine with me. It’s just a suggestion,” she replied as her eyes fell on the blanket.

“Yes. If it can make you calm and happy, I’ll grant it. Starting next month, we can start preparing for our stay at the resort.”

“Thank you, Jay,” she said as she hugged me.

“Let’s get some sleep because tomorrow morning we have to rush to the police station,” I said.

The next morning, we were already getting ready since the sun had just risen. We took our time to enjoy breakfast together with the twins. After that, Nick drove us to the police station.

When the car Nick was driving stopped right in front of the entrance of the police building, I saw Tom approaching our car and welcoming us.

He took us to a secret room next to the investigation room. I saw that Megan’s hands were handcuffed as well as her feet and she was also wearing a prisoner’s uniform.

In front of her sat a police officer and a detective who would lead the interrogation. From inside the secret room, we could hear everything.

“Ma’am, we are going to ask you a lot of questions. We expect you to answer all of them completely with no cover-ups or lies. It’s all for the smooth investigation of all the crimes you’ve committed. Do you understand?” the detective asked.

“Yes,” Megan replied.

“First question, why did you come here and confess to everything you did? Didn’t you want to serve time in prison?”
