Lexi followed along behind Eromaug in a sort of daze, allowing herself to be led back to her room without protest as her mind seemed to fill with the prospect of what lay ahead of her.
"What the fuck are you two still doing here?" Eromaug hissed in displeasure as Lexi fell through the doorway into the living area of her most recent living quarters.
Aoife lowered her eyes as Eromaug's gaze swept over them, but Orynn refused to bow his head, his eyes narrowing in Eromaug's direction as his displeasure made itself known at the back of his throat.
Eromaug's gaze moved across the two figures and held Orynn's challenging stare frostily.
"Do you have something to say dragonling?" He snarled as he pushed Lexi forward into the room and gestured towards her bedroom, "Collect what little you have here. You move tonight."
Lexi obediently moved towards her room as Orynn trilled in alarm and Aoife hurried to her side.
"What?! You can't be serious Lexi…" She whispered fiercely as she gripped her by her shoulders.
"Why not?" Lexi answered haughtily, shaking her off and hoping Aoife could see that this was nothing more than an act, "I'm only kidding myself by fighting this. He's my Eternal, and I his. The sooner that everyone accepts this, the sooner we can move forward. I don't want to live in the past anymore."
Aoife stared at her dumbfounded as Lexi moved around the room, gathering the few items that had been placed here for her.
"Lexi…" Aoife tried again timidly, her voice wavering slightly as she tried to piece together whatever was going on here.
Lexi sighed loudly and turned to Aoife, rolling her eyes,
"Oh for goodness sake, what?" she snapped, her hand resting on her hip lightly, looking every inch like an impatient heiress wanting nothing more than for Aoife to disappear like an unpleasant smell.
"A package arrived for you while you were out, the label says the Djinn sent it." Aoife murmured, heading to the dresser to retrieve the parcel.
"Oh? I wasn't aware that the creature from earlier was intending on trying to bribe his way into my favor." Lexi snorted as she caught Aoife's eye and threw her a pleading glance,
Luckily, it didn't take Aoife long to catch on and after a split second she managed to form a coherent answer that she hoped wouldn't sound too suspicious.
"Well, I suppose his kind isn't as far removed from the humans as he thought he was. Corruption and bribery seems to run amok among all races." Aoife managed to rush out in a nonchalant tone as she attempted to hand the parcel to Lexi.
Both of them were fully aware of what that package contained. A random book and the blade that would be the downfall of Lord Eromaug, whether he realized it or not.
So when Eromaug stepped forward to snatch the packet from Aoife's hands, they both stared at him wide eyed, hoping desperately that he wouldn't want to investigate the contents.
It felt as though time had stopped as he turned the package over in his hands thoughtfully, his eyes narrowing as he scrutinized the package.
Aoife and Lexi both held their breaths without meaning to and as the seconds ticked past, their chests seemed to burn, hitting them both with the realization that neither one of them had dared to take a breath as the tension around them pressed down heavily on them. .
"What is this?" Eromaug rumbled as he glanced at them both suspiciously.
"Who knows," Lexi snorted as she sucked a lungful of air in as nonchalantly as she could, disguising it as a heavy sigh, "The Djinn were falling over themselves to make introductions once they were told that I was your Eternal."
Eromaug raised an eyebrow in her direction as he removed the envelope and scanned the short note inside.
"Please accept our humble gift as a symbol of our wish for a long and prosperous friendship, Eternally, your humble servant, Maerifa."
"Maerifa, hmm?" He hummed thoughtfully as he turned the package over in his hands once more, "It appears you won him over with a simple visit which is no easy feat."
"Look, I don't know much about your realm at all and especially about the beings that live here. As soon as he realized that I wanted to know more about the history of his people, he was only too happy to invite us inside. He did say he would send something over so that I could read more of the history of some of the races here so perhaps it's that." Lexi shrugged, gesturing nonchalantly to the package in his hands as she turned back to gathering what few items she had.
She hoped desperately that Eromaug couldn't sense her lies, nor the way her magick was beginning to break free of the seal, slowly seeping its exhilarating fingers of power back through her bloodstream.
"Here," His gruff voice sounded from just behind her, startling her as she turned to find him offering the package to her with an almost mocking grin, "I have no interest in reading whatever those pathetic creatures have sent you. Perhaps it will bring you some comfort amongst your loneliness after I have finished using you for the purpose that you were intended."
Lexi took the book from him without a word, trying desperately to push down the burning rage that flooded her. If she didn't get a handle on it then her eyes would betray the magick that was slowly beginning to flood through her and he would know without a doubt that the seal was broken.
"Witch," he snapped as he turned to Aoife, "You will follow us to my chambers and you will prepare her for me. I expect her cleansed of any filth that even being near those mongrels in the cells have tainted her with."
"Yes, my lord." Aoife answered quickly bowing her head.
"And you. Insolent dragonling," He hissed as he turned to Orynn, "You can go to your mother and tell her that both she and Lexi will soon be bound to me, and there is nothing that she can do about it."
Orynn growled slightly as his eyes narrowed, but with a hasty glance toward LExi and Aoife, he lowered his head and made his way out of the room.
"Now come," Eromaug snapped, grabbing Lexi's wrist and pulling her to him, "I grow tired of waiting to claim what is mine by right."
