Tess
I press my lips against the ones belonging to Freddy, kissing him while embracing the warm winds inside my chest: I like him. Yes, he is the enemy of my pack, and yes, he is dangerous, but I don’t give a flipping heck. I taste his lips, enjoying it until...I realize he isn’t kissing me back.
My eyes widen in terror. Freddy’s eyes are closed but open the second I’m no longer kissing him. He stares at me while I breathe into his face, unsure of what I’ve done. Did I read the whole situation wrong?
“I...” My heart is racing, my mind is spinning, and I swallow thickly, realizing what an idiot I am. “I’m so sorry,” I begin saying and try to pull back.
But Freddy grabs my hips, holding me still with ease. When I try to fight him, a faint telltale smirk spreads over his lips. He looks massively amused. “Do you like me, Tess?”
I blush and avert my eyes. “I made a mistake…”
Freddy looks like he is trying not to laugh. “Is that right?”
“Mhm...”
“So you didn’t enjoy kissing me?”
I dare to study his handsome face, and my stomach churns with anxiety and want. Why does he have to look so irresistible? Lying isn’t my style, but rejection stings. I don’t want to admit to Freddy how much I liked kissing him. I already know he doesn’t feel the same, yet I don’t want to be dishonest about my feelings.
I frown. “You didn’t kiss me back...”
Surprise flickers over Freddy’s face, his brow wrinkling. “You didn’t give me a chance to kiss you back,” he leans closer with his hands sliding to my back.
I shiver. His face is very close to me now, near enough that I can look directly into his eyes and see the red-wine color within them. The fine hairs rise on the back of my neck as the primitive part of my brain recognizes him as a predator. His gaze is hungry, and I hold my ground because I don’t know if he wants my blood or my heart...maybe both?
“So how’s it gonna be?” Freddy asks.
I swallow hard, feeling his breath fan across my skin. “What do you mean?”
He leans in closer, his lips almost grazing mine. “Are you going to keep pretending you don’t like me, or are you going to admit the truth?”
I can’t deny it any longer. “I like you,” I whisper, my heart pounding in my chest. “I want you.”
His lips quirk into a dangerous smile before he crushes his lips against mine, changing the world as we know it by kissing me with such intensity that I’m blown away.
Every warning bell in my head screams at me to pull back, to run away from him, and the inevitable heartbreak that will follow. But my body responds to his touch, my hands clutching and clawing his naked, muscular chest as his tongue explores my mouth. I can feel the heat of his body pressed against mine, his hard muscles and rough hands making me feel alive in ways I never thought possible.
Freddy dominated me with his mouth, his hands roaming over my body with a hunger that sends shivers down my spine. I moan into his mouth, unable to control myself as he grinds his hips against mine.
“I’ve wanted you for so long,” he whispers, his lips trailing down my neck. “I knew you were trouble the moment I saw you, but I can’t resist you. Not anymore.”
My body feels like it’s on fire as he continues to kiss me, his hands working their way under my nightgown. I’m completely lost in him, unable to think or function as he takes me to new heights of pleasure.
But as the passion grows and I lock eyes with him, reality crashes back down on me: this isn’t my mate. I pull away from him, my breath coming in short gasps.
“We can’t do this,” I say, my heart breaking as I take in his confused expression. My hands are resting on his strong shoulders while I sit right over his erection. I want him so badly, but this won’t end well. “You’re not my mate...”
“Does it matter?” Freddy asks and leans in to kiss the sensitive skin on my neck. “I won’t go any further unless you don’t want it, but you should know that I see you, Tess. You’re gorgeous. Beautiful. Too good for me, but if you want me, I won’t fight what I’m feeling.”
My pulse ticks against my jaw. “A-and what are you feeling?”
He licks the skin right over my pulse, and I hold my breath, anticipating the moment that he will bite me. But he doesn’t. He continues to lick and kiss the area. It reminds me of a cat playing with the mouse before devouring it. I’m hesitant about this, but I’m also very turned on. My panties are soaking wet, and Freddy smiles against my skin.
“What am I feeling...” he murmurs. “Passion, hunger, a hunger that can’t be satisfied unless you’re here with me. I want you so badly that it hurts.”
His words make me catch my breath, and I feel the fight to resist him slipping away. His lips brush against mine ever so lightly, and I know what I want. I want Freddy. I give in to temptation and kiss him back, my hands exploring his muscles shamelessly. He releases a low laugh but doesn’t stop me, letting me touch his chest and rub my pussy against the hard bulge in his tattered pants.
He groans as I continue to kiss him, my tongue exploring his mouth while his hands roam over my body. He slips them lower and begins to caress me between my legs, and I gasp into his mouth as pleasure shoots through me. His fingers begin to dance circles on my clit, sending sparks of desire all over me.
“You like this?” he asks.
My answer is a nod, and he smirks before bringing one hand up to cup my neck as he explores my body with the other, pushing more and more pleasure through me until I’m begging for more. He pulls away from our kiss and looks at me with lust in his eyes before crashing his lips against mine again.
“Do you want to go further than this?”
“Yes,” I whisper. “Please.”
His warm breath fans against my chest. “Are you sure? It will make your mate roll around in pain since you haven’t rejected him yet. Even the kisses sting.”
That gives me pause. I’m hornier than ever before. Freddy is gorgeous and doesn’t seem to care about my scars. Neither does he give a flying fuck that I’m a human. But having sex with him would surely alert the guards. Lucas would realize something is up the second he feels the pain in his body, and I groan when I realize I can’t sleep with Freddy.
“Fine,” I frown. “You win.”
He leans his forehead against mine and laughs. “I’m just as devastated as you are.”
A smile tickles my lips. “Are you?”
“Mhm...”
“Really? You’re not just pretending?”
He grips my hips and lifts himself to grind his enormous erection against my pussy. “You think I would be able to fake this?” he asks, and it feels so good that I can’t fight the moan slipping out through my lips. Freddy smirks. “Who would have guessed the shy girl is secretly a pervert?”
I breathe a laugh, but it comes out as a moan. "I'm not a p-pervert," I stammer. “You’re just so hot.”
His eyes soften, and my heart flutters when he wraps his arms around me, hugging me to him. I feel treasured and loved, and close my eyes, but my eyes flash open when I hear voices outside the door.
“Shit!” I exclaim. “Someone is coming!” I lean away from Freddy and stare at him in utter disbelief. “Why didn’t you tell me someone was coming here? You have way better hearing than me!”
“I didn’t want to ruin the moment,” he says and tilts his head with a soft smile. “Wesley and Lily are here to bring me in for questioning. They plan on torturing me to make me tell them where the Safir pack brought Claudia.”
I stare into his eyes. “And where did they bring her?”
“I honestly don’t know,” his voice sounds genuine. I don’t think he is lying, and Freddy sighs. “Not that Wesley and Lily will believe me. They don’t like me very much, especially Lily—she has already googled on the werewolf web how to execute me in the best way possible.”
My eyebrows shoot into my hairline. “You’re powerful enough to read their minds even when you’re on vervain?”
“Mhm, I will need to be given a new dose soon,” he smiles faintly in the dark. “But don’t worry—Lily brought me one to keep me weak.”
My eyes narrow in confusion. “Why aren’t you escaping then?”
He smiles. “And where would I go, huh?” his tongue laps at my neck in the most delicious way. “I don’t have a pack. I don’t have any friends. All I have is you, and you probably want me punished for my crimes as well.”
“I don’t want that at all,” the words slip out of my mouth before I can stop them, shocking us both. Freddy widens his eyes, and I stare back at him, realizing that what I said is true: I don’t want him to get tortured and murdered.
“Tess...” Freddy sighs, and it sounds pained. “I promised not to read your mind again, but I’m very curious about what you’re thinking right now.”
“I’m thinking that you need to leave before Wesley and Lily get here,” footsteps are echoing against the walls, and before Freddy gets the chance to respond, I press my arm into his mouth. “Drink my blood and make your escape.”
Freddy keeps my arm inside his mouth but doesn’t bite me. He stares back at me with calculating eyes, and I groan in frustration. “You need blood now,” I growl. “Don’t make me repeat myself. Please.”
He studies me for a second longer before his fangs finally pierce my skin, and I must be a psychopath because my arousal only growls. What is the matter with me? Why does his bite feel so good when it should hurt?
‘It’s the toxins in my bite,’ Freddy replies through telepathy and continues to drink for me. ‘Sorry for entering your mind, but your blood pushes my powers through the roof. I feel insanely powerful, but I can’t stay. I’m going to leave you now. So farewell but not goodbye.’
My eyes snap open. “Wait!” I shout, but Freddy has already spat out my arm and is currently melting into a dark spot on the floor. He is rapidly sinking into darkness, smiling when he realizes my terrified expression.
‘I will be back, Tess. It’s for the best. You will be safer with your pack than you would be with me.’
With that, Freddy vanishes completely, and I stare down at the floor with blinking eyes. I’m alone in the cell with a crappy feeling of emptiness in the pit of my stomach. Will he really be back? Where did he even go? I know I told him to escape, but why couldn’t he inform me more than that?
“Tess?” Lily is staring at me with shocked eyes, and when she sees that Freddy is gone, her expression hardens. “You let him escape, didn’t you?”
