"Of course not." Gordon answered without hesitation, "If it were me and Evelyn's daughter, she would be the kindest child in the world."
Unexpectedly, Gordon was so hypocritical.
Alessia felt a bit complicated when she suddenly had that thought. She didn't know whether she should be moved or continue to hate.
"You can go back now, I don't need anything," Alessia said.
"How could you not want anything?" Gordon didn't believe it. "I told you, I'm asking for your help. You can make requests. You must have met Ava, right? If it's because of what Ava said, I can tell you now that I agree to marry her."
Gordon clearly loved Evelyn so much, yet he agreed to marry Ava?
Alessia looked at Gordon with a gaze like he was insane, and seeing Gordon's seriousness and pain, it didn't seem like he was pretending.
She suddenly understood that when love went deep, it was worth sacrificing some things to keep the person you loved alive.
Alessia wanted to tease Gordon for a few days, but she didn't expect him to be forced into doing something wrong. She took a deep breath and said seriously, "I'll say it again, and it's the last time. I dislike Ava. My association with her is because she initially wanted to use me. Her actions have nothing to do with me. Please leave."
Alessia sent him away again.
Gordon looked at Alessia, who didn't seem to be pretending, and thought about how it was Alessia who had personally called the police and had Ava sent to the prison.
Suddenly, he felt that maybe he had misunderstood her. He believed that Ava initially wanted to use Alessia, but even so, he couldn't let Alessia go.
"Alessia, even if you don't want anything, I can still make you leave. Since you won't yield, then I'll have to use force," Gordon said.
"What do you want to do?" Alessia's gaze was wary.
Gordon didn't answer. He glanced behind him, and immediately a group of men in black emerged silently.
The security at Forest Hill was strict, so Gordon's ability to bring in so many men quietly must have been premeditated, which was not simple.
Tension filled the air, and it seemed like things were about to escalate.
Alessia wasn't one to sit and wait for death. She assumed a defensive posture.
Just then, a hand reached out, gently pressing down the hand she had raised in preparation to fight, shielding her behind.
Alessia looked at Dominic's tall figure at the critical moment and felt something strange in her heart.
Dominic's cold gaze fell on Gordon. "Mr. Laroux, did you forget what I said?"
When Gordon saw Dominic, he was momentarily nervous, but he quickly smiled with composure. "Of course not. Mr. Carter, you have someone to protect, and I also have someone I want to protect. Since our positions differ, let's try to settle this with a win-win situation."
He was challenging Dominic.
Truly worthy of being a prominent figure in the previous generation of Toronto's business world.
A flicker of admiration flashed in Dominic's eyes. He glanced backward, and a dozen security guards in Forest Hill uniforms appeared.
"Mr. Laroux, please leave our community. Otherwise, we'll have to involve the authorities," the man who seemed to be the manager said calmly to Gordon.
Gordon also looked at Dominic with admiration.
"Mr. Carter, for the days to come, you'd better be guarding her 24/7."
After delivering his ultimatum, he walked away, and his expression suddenly darkened.
Although he said that, he couldn't afford to delay.
After Gordon left, Dominic turned back to Alessia anxiously. "Are you alright?"
Seeing Dominic's worried and caring expression, the strange feeling in Alessia's heart became even more apparent.
She distanced herself from Dominic a bit, and the palpitations eased a bit. "Yes. Thank you."
"I said I wouldn't let anyone force you," Dominic's smile widened. A breeze brushed against his face, making his distinct features even clearer.
Alessia saw Dominic purse his sexy lips and suddenly, without any warning, lean down towards her. As if he was going to kiss her.
Alessia panicked and quickly backed away to dodge.
Seeing Alessia's flustered expression, Dominic's eyes twinkled mischievously.
With gentle eyes, he said, "Sia, don't be nervous. I won't kiss you without your permission. But I really want to kiss you. What should I do? How about you agree to reconcile with me?"
Watching the man who confessed to her under the twilight sunset, Alessia found it really hard not to be moved.
This man.
He has many flaws.
Narcissistic, domineering, habitually cold-faced.
But he also has many strengths.
Strong ability, wealthy, good-looking, relatively faithful in relationships, and most importantly, he is the father of her child.
A voice in her heart tells her.
Agree to him, forgive him, reconcile.
Alessia was tempted, almost nodding in agreement, but in the end, she glared at Dominic with all her strength.
"Go home and sleep!"
After saying that, she left as if there was a ghost chasing her.
Dominic watched Alessia's fleeing figure, touched his nose, and chuckled.
Was she implying he should dream about it?
It's still early, and he couldn't sleep yet.
Besides, what Dominic Carter wants, he never expects to get in his dreams.
After Dominic left, someone came out from under the big tree.
It was Enzo, dressed in a white casual sportswear.
Since Alessia visited his house and he revealed his cards, he hadn't worn black clothes or pants anymore. His daily attire was of the sunny type.
At this moment, his gaze remained fixed on Dominic, with dark and inscrutable eyes, and no one knew what he was thinking.
After about half an hour, he took out his phone and dialed a number.
"Hey, it's me, Z. Is everything sorted out on your end? When can you come back?"
"You impatient brat, why are you in such a hurry? Things here are finally settled. Can't you let me rest for a bit?"
From the other end of the phone came a voice that sounded old yet full of vigor.
Enzo couldn't bear it. "No, I've waited long enough. I can't wait any longer. I'll give you two more days at most."
After expressing his thoughts, Enzo hung up without waiting for the other person's reaction.
He looked at the orange-red sky and silently said in his heart.
'Alessia, I've waited for you for so many years. If you haven't come back to find me because you lost your memory, I don't blame you.'
'But if you recover your memory, between me and Dominic, who would you choose?'
Another day passed.
At nine in the morning, after Gordon checked on Evelyn, he left the hospital to wait for Alessia in Forest Hill.
Before he could reach Forest Hill, he received a call from the hospital.
"Hello, Mr. Laroux, where are you now? Mrs. Laroux is about to undergo surgery and needs your signature. Hurry over."
"Okay, I'm coming right away."
Hearing that something was wrong with Evelyn, Gordon's heartstrings snapped immediately.
He immediately turned the car around in a panic, his mind in chaos, and began to think wildly.
Why did Evelyn suddenly need surgery? Did her condition worsen and require emergency treatment?
