On the other side,
It was already nine o'clock, there were no stars in the sky nor was it raining.
Outside the police station, Gordon looked inside, waiting.
About ten minutes passed, and Ava, still wearing the clothes she had worn in the hospital a few days ago, walked out from somewhere.
The two of them exchanged a silent glance.
Ava stopped and looked at Gordon for several seconds before sneering and walking up to him. "Gordon, you hated me so much, why did you bail me out?"
Gordon's face darkened, "Ava, I hate you. You pushed things too far, and no one else is to blame. Look at what you've done to the Ramirez family."
"It's all because of you. If it weren't for you, how could my daughter have died? If it weren't for revenge against you, the Ramirez family wouldn't have come to this."
At this point, Ava lost control of her emotions.
Gordon pressed his temples, disgusted by Ava's unreasonable behavior. From start to finish, he was guiltless towards Ava.
At the time, he fell in love with Ava abroad. After returning to the country, when his grandfather fell ill and was about to die, his greatest wish was to see him get married.
But Ava refused to come back, so he had to marry Evelyn.
After spending some time together, he developed feelings for Evelyn. And even before they got married, he had clearly mentioned breaking up to Ava.
It was Ava's various antics after returning to the country that ruined his relationship with Evelyn.
Using despicable means, she got pregnant with his child.
In the end, she came to his house with a big belly and stole his and Evelyn's newborn daughter who was not even three days old.
As a result, he lost his child forever, and Ava's child did not survive either.
It was because of this incident that he had Ava admitted to a mental hospital.
Also because of this incident, when Ava said that Alessia was his daughter, he never thought that Alessia would be born to him and Ava.
Knowing that Ava was lying to Alessia on the Internet, he knew that Ava intended to deceive both ends.
What she mainly wanted to do was to provoke Evelyn and ruin his marriage with Evelyn.
Gordon pulled back his memories from the past.
He said, "Ava, let's make peace. Let's forget about our past. You just need to persuade Alessia to help Evelyn heal. Apart from this, I can promise you an additional condition."
"Okay, I can make Alessia agree to help Evelyn, but can you give me back my daughter?"
Ava stared seriously into Gordon's eyes, a smile playing at the corners of her mouth. However, Gordon felt a chill run down his spine.
Ava's daughter had died thirty years ago, along with his and Evelyn's daughter.
Thirty years had passed, and even their ashes had probably dissolved. What could he possibly give her?
Ava's smile grew wider, sensing Gordon's dilemma, she made a compromise.
"If you can't give me my daughter, that's okay too."
A glimmer of hope rose in Gordon's eyes for a moment, but the next moment, as Ava continued speaking, the light in his eyes dimmed.
"Unless you divorce Evelyn and marry me!"
"Impossible!" Gordon refused outright.
"Then I won't help you persuade Alessia," Ava's tone was resolute.
"Gordon, now the roles are reversed, and the one who needs help is you, not me. I've waited for decades, I can wait a little longer, but can your beloved wife afford to wait? Gordon, two conditions, choose one. Think it over, I'll be waiting for your call."
Ava walked past Gordon and hailed a taxi.
As she sat in the taxi, her demeanor completely changed from when she faced Gordon. She breathed a sigh of relief and watched Gordon's figure disappear behind her.
Only then did she turn around, deep in thought.
What had happened during these days she was locked up, and why would Gordon suddenly beg her to persuade Alessia to help Evelyn?
With this question in mind, Ava returned to the Ramirez family.
Only Harrison was at home, as Margaret was at the hospital with Jessie.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Harrison sitting on the sofa, sorting through documents.
Ava composed herself, put on a flawless smile, and greeted warmly, "Harrison, I'm back."
Harrison paused in flipping through the pages, slowly raised his head, and when he saw Ava, a complex expression flitted across his face.
Seeing that Harrison didn't seem as happy as usual to see her, but rather stared at her blankly, Ava's heart flashed with a bad premonition.
But over the years, Harrison had always acted according to her wishes, and she was already used to it.
It didn't take long for her to regain her composure.
"My Brother, what's wrong with you? Have you forgotten me after just a few days? Or is it because something happened to Jessie?"
Ava changed her shoes and sat beside Harrison with concern.
Harrison looked at Ava sitting beside him, closed his eyes with restraint, and asked first, "How did you get out?"
"Gordon bailed me out." Ava said, thought for a moment, and then cheerfully continued, fabricating a lie.
"Gordon said he wants to marry me. Are you happy? As long as Gordon marries me, our family will soon return to its former glory, it's just around the corner."
As she spoke, Ava naturally reached out to hold Harrison's hand, painting grandiose fantasies as usual.
But this time, before she could even finish her story, Harrison pulled his hand away.
Facing his lying, selfish sister, his emotions finally couldn't be restrained. He stood up angrily, looking at Ava with disappointment in his eyes.
"How can you dream like this? If Gordon wanted to marry you, he would have done so long ago. At this point, are you still deluding yourself? Haven't you caused enough harm to our family? It's all because of your delusions that Nolan is gone, and this time, Jessie almost didn't make it. As soon as you came back, instead of caring about how our family is doing, you thought of seducing me first. Tell me, what do you want me to help you with this time?"
