Brother After Dark

Chapter Eleven

Ch. 13 / 68 Feb 17, 2026

Last night was one of the most amazing nights of my life. I knew, no matter what I discovered today, I wasn’t sorry about it. “I’m embarrassed,” I said, not wanting to add more to that. Because anything beyond that would either be saying too much or lying. “You?”

Please say no!

I couldn’t comprehend why, but I didn’t want him to say he wanted to undo what happened to us last night.

“You won’t like my answer, baby girl,” he said in a frustrated tone.

Ouch! That was an indirect way of saying he was sorry about the whole thing! Of course! What kind of sane brother would feel right about making his sister cum all over his fingers?

“I know what you’re thinking. Nasty, right?” I said, almost glaring at him.

He stared at me crossly. “You have no idea what’s going on in my mind right now.” His voice was low, but his tone was sober, thick with emotions.

Tears rolled down my cheeks again. “This… could have been the best day of my life. I’ve… I’ve waited for you to come home for fourteen years, Zachary. I would have been so happy to see you. My best friend’s back. My brother has finally come home. But now… this is a nightmare.” I didn’t mean that. But I wanted to hurt him, discarding the night we spent together as if it never meant anything to me or as if it were the biggest mistake I had ever done in my life.

I watched his expression turn from sober to a flash of anger. Suddenly, I felt scared, and I wanted to take back the last four words that came out of my lips.

“Why? Because you feel bad about sleeping with me?” he asked in a voice that’s cold as ice.

“I didn’t sleep with you!” I almost screamed at him.

He stood up from the bed. When I looked up at him, I couldn’t read his expression anymore. At best, he looked stoic. At worst, he looked bored. He raised a brow and said, “I’m sorry. Maybe you didn’t say that loud enough. Your parents couldn’t hear that all the way from the sitting room ono the ground floor.”

Maybe he was disgusted, he was guilty, he was angry. I don’t know! I had wanted my brother back since I was eight years old! And I met the most amazing guy last night, and I wanted him with me too! It’s not my fault they happened to be one person. And our intimate sexual encounter last night, and learning that he was my long-lost brother now, made it impossible to have either of them back.

“What do you want, Zachary? Because if I have to take it all back, I will,” I said. “I didn’t know. But if I’d known… I wouldn’t have done it.”

He narrowed his eyes at me. “You wouldn’t have done it with a guy you’ve known less than twenty-four hours? You regret melting in his arms and turning liquid in his hands? You regret screaming his name over and over—”

I couldn’t take what he was saying anymore. Before I knew what I was doing, I stood up and hit him solidly across the face.

“Stop it!” I screamed at him. “Stop it! Stop it!”

He wasn’t even startled when I slapped him, like he had been expecting me to do it, like he was asking for it. I couldn’t blame him. I wanted to hit myself too, if only to wake me up from this nightmare. I wanted Zachary, my brother. I wanted Zach, the guy I met last night. Both of them separately, not one and the same person. Because while Zachary was everything I could ever ask for in a guy, Zach was the guy I could actually be with! It made no sense, but that was the only way I could sort my emotions out right now.

He looked down at me, his eyes dark with emotions I could not read.

“What do you want me to do, Zachary?” I asked in a desperate voice. I couldn’t read him. I wanted to split his head in half so I could pry into that beautiful brain of his.

He gave me a hard look. “Nothing,” he whispered. “I want you to do nothing. I don’t want to hear about that night. Pretend it never happened. Pretend you never met me at the concert. And do me a favor. Keep your thoughts to yourself. I’m not interested to hear them.”

That burned! What the fuck was wrong with him? This was not the Zachary that left me behind. The one who left was much gentler, and he would want to know everything I had to say. So did the Zach that I met at the concert. He was interested in me.

But the brother in front of me now was telling me he was not interested to hear me speak at all?

“I might as well stay out of your hair! Pretend that you never returned at all,” I muttered.

“Even better,” he said in a bored expression. “Good to have that clear between us.”

I narrowed my eyes at him. “I was having a perfect life in London! You asked me to come home so you could ignore me? You had no intention of keeping your promise of coming back for me. You should have just left it at that! At least my last good memory of you was you asking me to wait for you!”

“Yeah, unfortunately now, the last good memory of me that you’re gonna have is me leaving those kiss marks all over your body,” he, said like it meant absolutely nothing to him. “And the last good memory I have of you is you cumming all over my—”

I slapped him again.

“I hate you!” I screamed at him. “I hate you! Get out! Get out!” Tears rolled down my cheeks. I didn’t care if he saw me break down like this. As if I wasn’t ashamed enough already that he had to see me in pure abandon, he had to add insult to the injury by flagging it to my face like he won some kind of trophy.

I slapped him again. He didn’t dodge although he knew the hit was coming. I had slapped him three times, and he didn’t budge, didn’t duck. He was asking for it and accepted the pain completely.

I pushed him with all my might. “I hate you, Zachary! As much as I loved you very much all these years, I hate you so much now! Get out! Leave me alone! From now on, I want nothing to do with you. Don’t bother yourself with me! I hate you! Get the fuck out of my room!”

His expression was dark, like he was controlling his anger. His eyes turned to liquid sapphire as he stared down at me. Then he spun around and walked toward the door.

“I came back for you,” he said in a cold tone. “Never accuse me of breaking promises again. I don’t make promises lightly.” He paused for a while, and then he turned to me. His expression was grave, his voice was threatening. “Don’t provoke me, baby girl. You wouldn’t want me to keep the last promise I made you, would you?”

I gasped.

Fuck!

He saw the panicked look on my face when I realized what promise he was referring to.

“Thought so,” he said. “Don’t worry. You’re safe from me. So long as you stay out of my way.”

Then he walked out, closing the door behind him, leaving me in complete shock with my mouth hanging open.
