Ophelia's POV
A small smile quirked my lips up when I sighted Lucas's car. I watched him pull the car to a stop, and get out from the driver's seat.
I waved at him, chuckling to myself as I sighted a frown on his face. He looked lost in the midst of vast array of cars.
"Hey, Lucas," I yelled, when I noticed he still hadn't seen me. His reaction was instant, his face lit up with a relieved smile.
"Hi," He said, after walking up to me.
I nodded awkwardly at him as I clasped my hand in front of me, "Uhm, you slept well?"
"Yeah, sure. I did. Thanks for asking, how about you?" He asked, to which I shrugged.
"You can never get a peaceful night with a toddler," I mumbled, cringing as I recalled the memories of Jeremy violent cries throughout the night.
Hell, the boy had powerful lungs which he knew how to use in a terrible way.
"Oh, I'm sorry about that. Let's head over to my car?" He suggested, motioning to his teal Mercedes.
"Yeah, sure. Let's go," I nodded, and followed him to his car.
He switched on the ignition, and we set off to the cinema. The drive was extremely awkward as I had nothing to say nor an idea on how to start a conversation with him.
I had never dreamed that a day would come that I wouldn't have any topic to discuss with Lucas.
So, I settled on fiddling with my fingers, and fixating my stare on the dashboard.
"You know I have a son too, right?" Lucas broke the silence moments later.
I tilted my head sideways to face him, and shook my head in negation, "No, I don't. You have never said anything about your family to me,"
"Oh, really? I guess it slipped my mind. I'm sorry about that," He apologized, momentarily averting his concentration from the road to dart an apologetic grin at me.
It's fine. I can understand. By the way, how old is he?" I asked.
"He's thirteen, almost done with middle school," Lucas replied, to which I oohed.
"Wow, that's cool. You must have had him quite young,"
"Yeah. I had him in highschool with my first love. She ran away and left him swaddled in blankets two days after his birth in front of my parents's driveway. Crazy, right?" He chuckled, and shook his head.
I was appalled by his utterance, as an hateful feeling filled my heart.
How could a mother be so heartless? I couldn't even imagine being apart from Jeremy for a day, not to talk of abandoning him.
That would be extremely irresponsible and shameless of me.
"That's so crazy. Why would a mother do that? Does your son know she abandoned him?" I asked.
Lucas shook his head once again, "I told him she died during his birth. That's what Evelyn wanted. She warned me against telling my son the truth about her, so yeah, that's the short summary of my sad life as a single parent," He sighed.
"I'm sorry you had to go through all that," I replied before turning my head towards the window.
I frowned when Lucas screeched the car to a halt in front of a nightclub. I gazed at him with confusion clearly written over my face.
"What's this, Lucas? I thought we were going to the cinema," I uttered, watching him unbuckle the car belt wrapped around him.
"The Cinema suddenly seemed boring to go for a date to me. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I honestly thought I told you about it already, it must have skipped my mind," He said, clasping his hand around mine which were placed on my thighs.
I suddenly felt terribly unnerved by Lucas, but I paid the feeling no attention because I knew Lucas would never harm me. I trusted him a lot, so I believed his statement.
If he said he forgot, then he really forgot. Lucas could never lie to me.
"Alright, then. But we have to leave in two hours, I need to get home soon because I don't really fancy partying," I said with a shrug.
"Yes of course. We'll do as you want," Lucas smiled, and nodded before he got out from his side, and trekked to my side to open the door.
With a smile, I took his hand and got out of the car.
"Thanks," I beamed.
"You're welcome," He nodded.
"Shall we?" He motioned, angling his arm to enclose mine.
"Yes, please," I replied, encircling my arm around his.
We trekked into the club, and at the entrance, a man took our coats.
To my utter surprise, the club was filled with an unfathomable stench of urine, sweaty bodies and alcohol.
I scrunched up my nose in disgust as I glared at Lucas who was surprisingly unbothered by the odor.
"Can't you smell it?" I yelled, above the loud club music as he led us to a table.
"What?" He yelled back, beckoning a server to our table.
I sighed in exasperation before yelling again, "The smell in here. It makes me want to throw up. I can't sit in here,"
"Oh. I smelled it too. We'll leave soon, let's have a drink first," He muttered.
I groaned in resignation, "Okay, let's do that,"
"I'm sorry this date turned out so bad. I'll make it up to you I promise," He said, sliding over a wine glass to me.
I just nodded before bringing the wine glass to my lips, and taking a small sip. I hummed in satisfaction as I twirled the glass.
The wine was the only nice thing about the club.
"You like it?" Lucas asked, to which I nodded.
"Yeah, I do. It's refreshing and quite tasty with the perfect amount of alcohol," I elaborated.
"Same here. I love it," He agreed before downing the remaining contents of his glass.
I copied his actions, and with one large gulp, I swallowed the wine.
Barely a minute later, I felt my vision get blurry. The people in the club including Lucas suddenly seemed like fuzzy blotches of colors. My body heated up with want, as my logical reasoning instantly dissipated.
At that moment, it was as if I had suddenly gone into heat. As Lucas helped me up from the chair, and led me to his car, I reached up to him, and looped my arms around his neck.
He chuckled as his hold on my waist tightened, "Patience, baby. We'll soon be able to ravish each other without anyone bothering us,"
The last bits of my logical reasoning knew something was wrong but I couldn't even help myself if I wanted to, I was filled with lust and arousal.
After buckling the seatbelt around me, Lucas leaned in and kissed me sloppily. I was too dazed to respond, and I just let him do as he pleased.
"My fantasy will become a reality tonight, Ophelia. I can't wait," He whispered before he withdrew himself from me to start the car.
