Walking into Owens clubhouse—as he calls it—I look around the warehouse looking to see how many of his crew is hanging around. The warehouse had two floors, the bottom floor was converted to a bar and hangout area and the second was where the product was kept and where Owen’s office was. I head to the bar and nod at the bartender that was there tonight. Owen had two that worked here, he paid them to not only make drinks for him and his crew but to be his eyes and ears among the crew to catch any word of someone making waves. At the bar tonight was Gia, she was 5’5 had long black hair and she was slim and pale like she never had gone outside before. She was dressed in a gothic fashion and her makeup was done in the same way. She I think, was in her mid-20s and had been working for the clubhouse for a year now.I nodded to her as I sat down at the bar. “Hey Gia. Where is everyone? The clubhouse seems empty.” She nods to me, “Hey Jacob. Everyone is out dealing right now. Owen wants more product out on the streets, he’s saying that there isn’t enough people who have some. “I nod like it makes sense. Her and everyone else in this clubhouse believes my name is Jacob Remington and that I was a nobody on the streets and just someone to use as a body to get drugs out to clients. Although with my tail this afternoon I think Owen is getting a little suspicious or someone else is.“Well, if that’s the case, I’m going to go upstairs and ask Frank if Owen wants me to head out and deal then. “Gia nods and I get up and walk towards the back of the first floor and take the flight of stairs up to the second floor. Walking down the narrow hallway I make my way to the very end and a black door was closed. I stop in front of it and knock on the door, a deep voice spoke out to let myself in. I sigh and open the door walking into the room. Sitting behind a desk with his feet on top leaning back in his chair was Frank. He was a man that had mixed white and African American heritage, he was 6ft when he stood up and he was built like a tank. If it wasn’t for my wolf giving me extra strength and speed, I knew I wouldn’t be able to take him on. I was a big man, but he played dirty and had years of experience behind him.“What can I help you with Jacob?” I nod my head, “Gia said that Owen wanted everyone to be dealing tonight?” He nodded and swung his feet off the desk before getting up and walking around his desk. “Yes sir, Owen wants everyone out on the streets. Now the question is. Where have you been?” I didn’t say anything right away and just watched him. Was it him who sent the tail and not Owen? “I was heading to my cousin’s friend’s car shop. My truck hasn’t been running right and I have tried13
everything I could think of to fix it and it still hasn’t worked. “He tilted his head and looked at me,” Hmm...that’s unfortunate.” I nodded my head in agreement. He used his hand motioning to the product room next to his office. “Well go grab some product and get out on those streets. We don’t have all night. It’s almost 8 and people are starting to get out on a Friday night.” I nodded,” Yes sir.”
I walked out of his office and tried to seem relaxed walking to the product room. I grabbed a bag that was prepped for tonight off a table that was in the middle of the room. This room had metal shelfs filled with drugs. I shook my head at the sight and walked out of there not willing to linger longer than necessary. I headed downstairs and out the clubhouse, I couldn’t use the truck I had since it was supposed to be in the shop, so I had to be on my feet.
Instead of actually selling these drugs to people out on the streets. We had it set up that certain “clients” of mine would actually come purchase them from me and take them back to the bureau, so it seemed that I was actually getting these drugs out on the streets when in reality I wasn’t. I headed to my normal selling spot and settled in for the night. Over the next few hours, I slowly got rid of the drugs, I didn’t get rid of the whole bag. I wanted to make it seem like I was an inconstant dealer, it makes it seem like I wasn’t just dumping the drugs somewhere or all with the same person. That my clients were only somewhat reliable. I didn’t want to stand out too much on each end of the spectrum, I didn’t want to be someone that was expected to get rid of my whole bag and I didn’t want to be someone that looked like he couldn’t get someone to buy.
When it was about midnight, I decided to head back to the clubhouse. I had as few packs inside the duffel bag and the money I “made” inside ready to hand back to Frank. Walking in I saw that a few people had made it back and now they were relaxing at the bar and the couches watching recordings of games they missed from going out and dealing. Heading upstairs, I see that there was no line to drop off their money and left-over drugs.
I head to Franks office; he was sitting at his desk counting the money from someone else’s bag. Seeing me in the doorway he nods to be and points at the side of his desk on the floor. “Put it there Jacob. You better have managed to sell it all.” I shook my head and shrugged my shoulders. “I got rid of most of it expect two bags. Two of my clients didn’t show up like they said they would tonight.” He nodded, “They were probably high as fuck and forgot. Next time, get the moneybeforehand if you think they won’t show.” I nodded and turned to leave but stopped as he spoke. “You better be here tomorrow earlier so you can get back on the streets. “I nodded in response not wanting to say anything about my attendance.
Something must be up; Owen usually doesn’t want to much product out so the police couldn’t track the drugs back to him or catch his dealers in the act of selling. This is something that my superior will definitely need to know. Maybe we can use this as an advantage. After being sent out I don’t normally like to stick around the clubhouse, so I head to the place I’m staying for the length of time I’m here for the job. Walking, it took about 20 minutes to get there. It was an apartment complex in a rugged area of town. It wasn’t a place that you wanted to hang outside after dark. I walked to my door and unlocked it walking into my apartment. Shutting the door behind me I glanced around the small space. It was a studio apartment and had no bedroom. The living room was my bedroom and vice-versa. I sighed and rubbed my face. I hated staying here. Normally I had a whole house to myself. It wasn’t a mansion by any means, but it was decently sized.
I had 4 bedrooms, I bought a large house in hopes of meeting my mate and potently having pups. So far, I’ve regretted that decision. Its lonely in the house. Being with no pack and no mate has put a strain on my wolf. Wolves were pack animals and we needed others to remain stable. The thought of meeting my mate and having someone else around has been the only thing that has helped keep my wolf sane.
Before getting ready for bed, my second burner phone has vibrated on my kitchen table. I kept two phones. One was for me to carry around and for the gang to keep tabs on but the second one never left the apartment and was a secure line that the gang couldn’t get into so I could communicate freely within the apartment. I walked over and picked it up, I had a message from my superior to give him a call. Within the first ring he answered with a warning. “Be careful, the police are looking into the murder of someone the tail killed and the murder of the tail you had earlier. Someone is making a scene and trying to pin it on you.” I groan and rub my face.
“Do you have any clue as to who that could be?” He sighed, “I have a feeling that its either Frank or Owen that could be trying to get rid of you. “I nodded. I think it was Frank if Owen wanted to get rid of me, he would just kill me outright. “It has to be Frank. He questioned about where I was earlier. He must have killed the tail after he lost me at the theater. How were you able to catch it?”
“We have someone in the police department who knows what’s going on and was able to catch it. He’s a detective and him and his partner are on the case.” I nodded forgetting he couldn’t see me, I responded. “Well, Owen must suspect something is wrong because he is wanting people to sell every night this weekend. He’s upping the amount he’s sending out on the street, and he normally wants to be careful with how much drugs are out on the street. We need to end this and soon otherwise we are gonna lose him.”
“I agree, I’ll let you know when to move. We have enough evidence to pin him.” He didn’t say anything more and ended the call. I sigh in relief. I’m gonna be finally out of here and I won’t have to worry about looking over my shoulder every time I go out worrying that someone was going to try to end my life just because Frank or Owen were suspicious. Once I was out of here, I was going to take a dam vacation. I did not need any more stress than I could handle, I was going to go crazy soon. I got settled for the night and I was finally able to get my wolf to shut up about wanting to go for a run. Ineeded to let him out sooner than later. Especially if I needed to make a move soon, I didn’t need any distractions or have no control over my wolf.
