Who's My Triplet's Alpha Daddy?

Chapter 205

Ch. 205 / 245 Apr 30, 2026

POV: Lysander

My father has never once arrived anywhere without a purpose, and unannounced means the purpose is one I will not enjoy.

I spot Magnus crossing the courtyard at eleven-forty, his stride carrying the measured authority of a man who built this pack and never stopped believing it belongs to him.

He heads toward the guest wing. I intercept him at the main hall doors before he reaches the stairs.

"Father." I step into his path with the quiet physicality of a wolf who learned to block.

"Lysander." He stops, reads my position, and calculates. "News travels quickly."

"You traveled faster than I expected." I hold the door behind me closed with one hand.

"A Fenris heir appears and you expected me to wait?" He tilts his head, studying my face.

"I expected a call before you drove all this way." I do not step aside from the doorway.

"Interrogate is your mother's vocabulary." He folds his hands behind his back deliberately.

"What would you call it, then?" I mirror his stillness, matching composure for composure.

"Assessment — what any former Alpha does when bloodline expands." He watches me without blinking.

"Dylan is not a bloodline expansion — he is a child." I hold his gaze across the threshold.

"He is both, and sentimentality will not change that." His eyes sharpen on mine with precision.

There it is. The political calculation that lives behind every word Magnus speaks, the engine that never stops running regardless of who stands in front of him.

"Walk with me." I gesture away from the guest wing, toward the main hall where Claire will not hear.

He follows because it serves his purpose. We settle on opposite sides of the council table — the same surface where he held court for decades before stepping down. The wood between us has absorbed more power negotiations than any boardroom in the state.

"The facts are straightforward." Magnus opens without ceremony, hands flat on the polished wood.

"State them as you see them." I lean back in my chair and offer him the floor he already claimed.

"Claire Chen carried your child in secret using a fabricated letter." He delivers it clinically.

"The letter is under review." I keep my voice level across the table between us.

"The letter is irrelevant — the child is not." He leans forward, pressing his weight down.

"The child is very young." I let each word land with its own deliberate weight on the table.

"He carries Fenris blood and unclassified abilities." His tone sharpens with practiced authority.

"Who told you about abilities?" I narrow my eyes at the speed of his information network.

"The gate guards report to the compound." He waves one hand with dismissive efficiency.

"The compound reports to you specifically." I lean back, naming the separate pipeline directly.

"I maintain relationships predating your authority." He does not apologize for the network.

"Relationships you use to bypass current leadership." I name the pattern without accusation.

"Relationships that ensure I know when my grandson appears." His voice drops on the final word.

The word grandson lands between us with a weight neither of us expected. I watch Magnus register that he used it — the involuntary claim of blood slipping past his political filter.

"He is your grandson." I let the word echo between us. "Not a succession variable."

"He is all of those things simultaneously." He recovers with the speed of decades of practice.

"What reality are you here to enforce, Father?" I cross my arms and wait for his actual point.

"A Fenris heir with undocumented abilities born to a human who falsified — " He pauses.

"That is not a family matter, Lysander." He finishes with both palms on the table now.

"It is until I decide otherwise." I do not stand. "My compound, my jurisdiction."

"Your compound operates within pack law." He straightens, using his full height deliberately now.

"Dylan will not be registered or assessed until he has slept more than one night here." I hold.

"The council will have questions regardless." He circles the table toward me with measured steps.

"The council can direct those questions to me." I turn in my chair to track his movement.

"And what will you tell them about that postmark?" He stops three feet from where I sit.

"That the investigation is mine and the child is under my protection." I rise to face him.

We stand three feet apart. The distance holds the shape of every argument we have had since I was old enough to push back — Magnus pressing, Lysander yielding, except that I stopped yielding a long time ago and he has not fully recalibrated to the man I became in his absence.

"You will not approach Dylan without my explicit permission." My voice carries earned authority.

"I am his grandfather." He delivers it as though biology outranks jurisdiction automatically.

"You are a former Alpha without operational authority here." I do not blink or look away.

"You will not discuss this child in political terms within these walls." I hold every inch.

Magnus studies me for a long moment. I watch the calculation run behind his eyes — the cost of pushing further weighed against the intelligence he gathered simply by observing how fiercely I responded to his presence at my door.

He turns toward the exit. His stride concedes nothing, because Magnus does not concede — he repositions, reloads, and returns on a different day with better ammunition and a more favorable angle of attack.

"One more thing." He pauses with his hand on the frame, profile sharp against the corridor light.

"Dravec." The name drops into the silence between us with the weight of a loaded weapon.

"Dravec has been in formal contact about Kieran's leadership." He turns to catch my eye.

"Three inquiries in two months, each one more specific than the last." His jaw tightens.

My chest tightens. I filed those inquiries yesterday — flagged them for Thalia, logged the pattern, noted the timing that was too precise for casual interest. Magnus knowing about them confirms a pipeline I suspected but could not prove until this moment.

"You already knew about the inquiries." He reads my face the way only a father can manage.

"Good — then you also understand what inevitably comes next." His voice carries the finality of closing doors.

"Dylan's existence will be added to Dravec's file." He lets the sentence land with precision. "Not by me."

The door closes behind him with the quiet precision of a man who always leaves a room having planted exactly what he intended to grow.
