Amanda Estelle
"What are you thinking?" I asked Logan because he kept looking at the sky blankly. He sat up straight and he turned to me shaking his head.
We're currently sitting on a bench at Hyde Park with our rented bikes. Logan was wearing a black mask to cover his mouth because he said he had a pollen allergy. We were a little tired after strolling around Hyde Park.
"I love this place.." Logan said as he looked at the trees and then he turned his attention back to me.
"Do you have something in mind? You can tell me.." I said because it's been a week since we've become friends and I can say that I'm so comfortable being with him. It was like we'd been friends for years when the truth was that we just met last week.
"My father asked me about my future last night, I think I might go back to Denmark after I finish high school." He said and I pulled my legs up to the bench turning my body fully to him.
"What's bothering you?"
"I fell in love with London." He simply said and I found myself smiling.
"You can stay in London if you want to, right? Your parents work here so.. it will be easier to go to school here." To be honest, I'm starting to get comfortable with him around me. Even though it's only been a week I can't imagine my life without him by my side as my friend.
"I'm afraid that I grow an attachment to London that I might not want to go back to Denmark." He said in a weird tone. I can't read the tone that he's expressing but there's a hint of sadness in that tone.
"Then stay.." I said and our eyes met. He smiled underneath that mask but he shook his head.
"Maybe one day you'll know why I can't stay here, Mandy."
"I wish for you to stay though," I said truthfully and he chuckled.
"You like me, don't you?" My whole body froze when he said that.
"What?" My lips were frozen for a second there.
"I have to take over my family business in Denmark and I might have to get married before 25." He said and my jaw dropped.
"Before 25? Isn't that too fast?"
"Yeah but I don't have a choice, I have to take over the business with my wife." He chuckled as he patted my head.
"Do you know where to find hot girls?" He took off his mask and smirked. I smacked his hand that hit my head earlier and rolled my eyes.
"I'm a lonely girl... I don't have friends." I hissed as I turned my body to the front.
"Don't be jealous, Mandy. I'm still yours when you need me." He said as he leaned his head on my shoulder. I gulped nervously and my body automatically froze.
"I'll be your hero, just like when you got bullied by Patricia." He added and I shook my head.
"Will you still be my best friend by then? You said you'll go back to Denmark."
"We have the technology, Mandy. We can call and text all the time, don't be an old lady." He teased and I shook my head.
"Best friends are supposed to be there whenever and wherever you need them," I said and he chuckled.
"We can find a way for it."
"Unbelievable.." I scoffed.
"It's weird, Mandy."
"What?"
"We just met last week but it's like I've known you for years. I'm too comfortable.." He said as he took my hand looking at it before he put his head on my thigh. My breath got hitched and I gulped nervously.
"I wish we could stay like this." He said as he put my hand and his on his chest. I could feel his heart beating and my heart went crazy. My stomach hurt from preventing the butterflies from going crazy.
"Are you running away from something?"
"More like.. trying to run away." I raised my eyebrows but he closed his eyes feeling the breeze. The wind hit us pretty hard and I pulled his mask up to cover his nose.
"Running away from what?"
"My fate.."
"Why? Is it that bad?" I'm a little bit concerned now.
"No, it's not bad. It's a good thing but it comes with a lot of sacrifice on my part." He sighed and I caressed his head.
"You'll get through it."
"You're not curious?"
"I know one day you'll tell me when you're ready," I said confidently and he chuckled.
"Thank God that I chose you, Mandy."
"My name is Amanda, stop calling me Mandy." I hissed coldly.
"Mandy is your nickname from me to you even though your dad uses it too but you have to promise me that no one can't call you Mandy except me and your father.." He said as he put his pinky in front of me.
"What if I have a boyfriend? He can call me Mandy too."
"No can't do... Only I and your father can." He hissed as he moved his pinky.
"My husband can.."
"We can talk about it after you get married." He said and I rolled my eyes. I took his pinky and we made a pinky promise.
"What if you break this promise?" He asked.
"I'll buy you dinner 10 times."
"Fancy dinner, Mandy." He pointed his finger at me and I smacked his hand.
"No.. fancy dinner isn't enough. I'll think of a punishment once you break it." He smirked even though his eyes were closed.
"Whatever." I hissed.
"You have to come to my wedding too."
"You sure make a lot of rules.." I said in a sarcastic tone.
"That's what I'll do, Mandy, so bear with it."
"Your wedding?" I asked.
"Yeah, you have to be my best man or best woman or whatever that is."
"Why should I?" I hissed and he laughed.
"Why? You want to be the bride?" Shit! Is he playing with me? My heart was beating so fast that I thought I was going to have a heart attack.
"Are you out of your mind?"
"I thought so.. why would you be my bride anyway?" Ouch!
