The Pregnant Rejected Princess of Northcrest

CHAPTER 29

Ch. 29 / 30 Apr 02, 2026

Chains clinked across the marble floor. Ronan Vale was dragged forward, bruised and bloodied, the iron links biting into his wrists. Two royal guards flanked him, gripping his arms like stone. His lip was split, one eye swollen. Still, he held his head high, pride choking him even as his title was stripped away.

He spat at the floor, voice low and bitter.

“She was mine.”

Mira didn’t flinch. She didn’t even look at him.

“I was never yours,” she said. “You just convinced me I had no choice.”

The court chamber was silent. Not one wolf spoke. Ronan let out a strangled laugh.

“You think this is justice? Parading around with your pet rogue Alpha and your bastard heirs?”

The guards yanked him forward. Mira turned slowly, her eyes cold.

“My sons are not bastards. They are my strength. They are my blood. And Thorne?” she glanced back at the warrior standing silent beside her, “he is a better father than you ever pretended to be.”

“You’re a traitor to tradition,” Ronan snarled. “To the laws of our people.”

Mira stepped down the dais, moving toward him, step by steady step. “I didn’t break tradition. I survived it. I endured your cruelty while the council watched. I bore the whispers, the shame. You made me think I was nothing. But I was never the broken one, Ronan. You were.”

He tried to lunge, but the chains pulled him back. The guards slammed him to his knees. Alaric rose from his throne.

“Enough,” the king said. His voice cut through the room. “You have disgraced the title of Alpha. Your bloodline will not rule again.”

A few council members murmured, nodding. The decision had been made.

Ronan shouted, “This is a farce! You’ll regret this. You think wolves will follow her?”

“They already do,” Thorne said, his voice quiet but sharp.

Guards dragged Ronan across the hall. He thrashed, spitting curses, snarling threats. “You’ll see! This kingdom will fall without me!”

“No,” Mira whispered. “It’s rising without you.”

“I’ll come back and kill every single one of you!” Ronan screamed.

The doors slammed shut behind him. The silence that followed was deafening. Slowly, Mira exhaled. Her sons stood beside her, small hands wrapped in hers.

King Alaric stepped forward. “A new Alpha must be chosen.” Heads turned. Advisors whispered.

Mira raised her chin. “I have a cousin on my adopted father’s side,” she said. “He’s quiet, fair, and has never sought a throne. But he has always served his pack. He is loyal to the realm.”

Alaric nodded once. “Then let it be done.” A messenger was sent. Nobles murmured approval. The news would spread fast—Northcrest was no longer ruled by cruelty, but by legacy.

Thorne approached Mira slowly. “It’s over.”

She met his gaze. “Almost.”

They walked together down the long corridor that led from the court to the open courtyard. The sun was bright overhead, a sharp contrast to the heavy stone walls they had left behind.

“You didn’t even hesitate,” Thorne said quietly.

“I did,” Mira admitted. “But not today.”

He touched her hand gently. “You were brilliant. You’ve always been brilliant. You just finally spoke loud enough for the world to hear you.”

She smiled, a small, tired thing. “Do you think they’ll accept me? After everything?”

“They already have,” he said. “And if they don’t, I’ll remind them who you are.”

They stepped into the sunlight, and Mira paused, turning to look at the city below. It was quiet now. But the quiet was not fear. It was peaceful.

Behind her, her sons whispered to each other. Caelan tugged at her sleeve.

“Mama,” he said softly, looking up with wide, curious eyes, “are we safe now?”

Mira turned, crouched, and gathered both boys into her arms. She held them tight, her voice trembling as she kissed Caelan’s forehead.

“Yes, baby,” she said, voice steady but full. “We are.”
