Beast

Ethan

He crumbled to the ground as if he were a bag of bones, even then, no one moved. Were they going to stand there like statutes while I took them out one by one? I shrugged. This would make things easier. All at once, there was movement as if they finally realized what was happening.

I’ll admit that for a minute there I thought they weren’t going to fight back. How useless would their large numbers have been if all they did was watch when under attack? I felt better knowing they were going to at least try.

My mind went blank as a lanky creature lunged at me. He was taller than the last with straggly blonde hair. He was skin and bones and I doubt he could shift. I knew prey when I saw it. I didn’t even try to dodge his attack, there was no strength behind it, he was weak.

I chucked the bloody mass in my hand before he could reach me. When I made contact, I gripped his face and squeezed until his skull gave way. There was a gurgling scream that soon died out as his face sank in.

Splinters of bone pricked my hand, and brains oozed through my fingers and spilled over. Releasing him, I turned from him as a punch landed across my jaw. A body slapped against the floor.

I brought my hand up to my jaw I saw the brains still coated my hand. I shook it out and brains went flying. They splattered across the faces of two of the enemies nearby. They screeched like banshees as they scratched the chunks from their faces.

A handful of the warriors started running in the opposite direction towards the pack. I’d go after them but I still had too many to worry about here. I didn’t blink as I turned from the runners and closed the distance between me and the two screaming men.

A pair of blue fear-filled eyes stare at me. With agility I didn’t know I had, I plunged both half-shifted hands into their chests until my hands could wrap around their still-beating hearts.

Before they could attempt to fight me off, I ripped their hearts from their chests. I felt no remorse for them. They had been rogues, possibly the same ones that had been harassing my pack, my family.

I didn’t look at them as they fell to the ground. I squeezed their hearts until they were mush before letting them fall from my hands. Everything and everyone blurred after that. From there, I didn’t think about my actions or what I was doing.

I made my way through the crowd as if I were walking through the park. It was a breeze and I didn’t put much thought into it as I slashed, broke, and tore at whoever and whatever came my way.

Bodies were dropping left and right. I wasn’t keeping track of how many I was killing, so I couldn’t figure out how many were left. There was still a hoard of enemies and I knew I wasn’t even halfway through their numbers yet.

One after the other fell at my feet. I killed mercilessly and I could feel myself slipping. The more I slaughtered, the more it felt like I was retreating into the darkest parts of my mind and Elijah was driving.

I stood tall, my breathing sporadic as I caught my breath. Looking around, bodies were piled high and the stench of death floated through the cool night sky. Limbs were scattered on the ground I stood on and soulless eyes stared up at me.

The hoard of warriors didn’t stop. As soon as I knocked down one wall another wall pushed forward. Irritation ripped through me, there was something I needed to do and they were in my way.

I bolted forward and smashed two heads together. A sickening crack confirmed I’d rendered them useless in this fight. Turning to the nearest threat, I gripped his neck and squeezed until his airway collapsed.

My claws pierced a man who had tried to charge me from my blindside. Warmth coated my hand as his eyes widened before dropping to look between us. I watched his expression as it turned from shock to ___ as I ripped out his intestine.

Blood filled his mouth and streamed down his jaw and I watched as the light dimmed in his eyes. I deposited his organ into his hands before pushing him out of the way as I looked around for the next threat.

A woman slung her arm at me but I didn’t blink as it bounced off of my chest. I did my best not to put my hands on a woman but I had no choice here. I cocked my arm back and when my claws connected, I sliced through her throat.

Blood bubbled and I watched as she realized she was dying. She struggled as she took deep inhales. Instead of air, she choked on her blood. She fell to her knees and began to panic.

Her fingers swiped at the blood as it fell down her chest and bloodied her shirt. I could make it easier for her but I wasn’t here to show mercy. I was here to make them hurt, I was here to kill and show them who they’ve messed with.

I was here to take back what belonged to me. Leaving her to drown in her own blood, I turned from her in time to face the next wall. I waited for them to move first. I watched as they made a group decision.

They rushed at me together, probably thinking this would help them in taking me out. They thought wrong. It didn’t help them, if anything, it made it easier for me. They were lined up like ducks in a row. I tore through them easily. The sounds of bone snapping, flesh-tearing, and blood gushing filled my ears. I wasn’t a man, I was a beast.
