Zara's POV
It has been a month since Lucas returned to his country, and I haven't received any phone calls from him. Lately, I realized how empty my life is without them. I feel incomplete. However, I wanted Lucas to be the one to text or call me first.
The next day, I didn't go to the office because I felt lazy and preferred to stay at home. After cleaning the house, I grabbed my laptop upstairs and then went down to the veranda.
Why did I only notice now how beautiful the views werefrom my veranda? Wait, didn't I buy a selfie stick when we went shopping? Let me try taking a selfie.
Because of Lucas's sudden disappearance, I couldn't eat properly, and I couldn't sleep well at night. I've lost some weight, and there were dark circles around my eyes, but I didn't care!
The days seemed so long, and I kept glancing at the clock. Since I have nothing else to do and I've been bored for a while now, I decided to start writing a letter for Lucas Blackwood. Once and for all, I wanted to sever any ties that I had with Lucas Blackwood!
Only then could I live in peace and harmony!
The following morning, I was surprised to see Lucas in our living, but assuming it was just a figment of my imagination, I didn't greet him.
"Good morning, Zara!"
At first, I ignored the voice I heard, thinking it was just my imagination. In the past few days, it felt like I've gone crazy, as I kept hearing his voice and seeing him in every corner of my house.
I just passed by the man I saw in the living room and went to the kitchen to make coffee. When I returned to the living room, Lucas's image was still there.
"I must be going crazy," I told myself.
"Why?" he asked.
I looked at the man who spoke, and when he smiled at me, I melted in my seat.
"Lucas? What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with Giselle?" I pinched his cheek to make sure he's real and not just a product of my imagination.
"Ouch! What is that for?"
He frowned before coming closer and hugging me tightly. "Hmmm, I can't bear to be far away from you," he lied to my face.
"You're such a charmer," I joked, but I appreciated his return.
"What do you mean by that?" he asked.
"Nothing. I said you're cute." I giggled before kissing him on the lips. "I'm glad you decided to come back; Enrique missed you," I mumbled.
"What about you, Zara? Did you miss me?"
"I missed you so much," I said before kissing him again.
Lucas returned my kisses passionately, and our clothes ended up on the floor in no time. We were both longing for each other.
"I missed you too, but I didn't want to force myself on you."
"I'm really glad," he said before carrying me up to my room, but we didn't make it there and ended up on the stairs.
I asked the Almighty that I hoped this person wasn't in love with someone else. His gaze was enchanting, and I felt mesmerized, craving for him in a way that I couldn't explain. I felt like my body and soul merged into loving him.
"Lucas..." My voice was a bit husky when I called his name.
I didn't mean to encourage him, but it happened anyway. His lips immediately touched mine, and I was torn between accepting or rejecting it.
"Please?"
I didn't know what he was asking for, but I just nodded.
"Gorgeous!" He exclaimed as he started to feel my bare breast, cupping it, massaging it, and finally, sucked on it with all his might. His tongue played with my nipples, which surrendered to desire's call.
No matter how hard I tried to resist, it was too late. My body had already betrayed me a while ago.
"Hmmmmm...." I made a sound when he gently sucked on my earlobe while caressing my breasts.
"This is not right," I finally managed to voice out what's been bothering my mind.
"Then, by all means, I'll do it right. Anything for you, sweetheart."
"No, what I mean is... ohhhhhhh..."
With one swift motion, he was already inside me. Where did my panties go? I didn't even feel him removing them.
I felt good and so full... full of his throbbing manhood that continued to grow bigger inside me. I arched my back to welcome him fully and wholeheartedly. As I was already lost in the wilderness of his lovemaking, I let him take full control of my body and surrendered to the ecstatic feeling of being loved.
"Zara...!" Lucas shouted my name as he continued to move in and out of my body. I knew he was close to climaxing, but I didn't push him away and let him reach the peak of pleasure.
When the man's breathing calmed down, I thought he was done and would remove himself from me. Yes, he pulled it out, but after a few seconds, he's back with a vengeance. And every time he buried himself within me, he went deeper, harder, and faster, and I felt like I would pass out.
"No, don't close your eyes, baby, look at me... yes, that's right... feeling good?"
I didn't know what he saw in my eyes, but he kept doing things that drove me crazy. I felt electrified and, for the first time, welcomed every thrust from Lucas.
"Lucas! I think I'm-"
"I know, baby. I know."
Then, he went in too deep, and I cried out his name over and over again.
When I finally regained my senses from the intense pleasure, I remembered that I was fertile. What should I do now? There's no escaping from the reality that I might become a mother soon!
"A penny for your thoughts," he flicked his finger in front of me to bring my attention back to the present. "Do you really love me as you said?" he asked.
"Of course, I love you so much, Lucas. Why?"
"If you really love me, then set me free, forget about me, please?"
As soon as I heard it, my eyes blinked several times and for a moment, I stared at the white ceiling. When I looked around, I realized to be in my room, and lying in my bed. So, was it just a dream? I chuckled at the thought of believing it was real. Even in my dream, he would just use my body, and nothing more!
I immediately rolled over from the bed because it was my schedule to do some general cleaning in the house. While cleaning, I happened to stumble into our large mirror, and I was frozen in front it. I couldn't believe what I saw. The reflection that stared back at me was too different from who I was before.
Then, I realized I needed to have some makeover, but I had no idea where to start. Fortunately, Antoinette was available for a video call and she explained things to me. She also recommended her favorite spa in the city.
After the call, I resumed cleaning, and once I'm done, I took another shower. It felt refreshing, especially in the sticky heat of summer. Despite having air conditioning, sweating was inevitable.
Following my shower, I prepared a snack for Enrique and Lucas-juice and sandwiches. Then, I carried the tray with refreshments toward the pool area. They appeared to be thoroughly enjoying each other's company. Lucas was teaching our son how to swim. I called their attention so they could have a snack.
"Dad! Am I doing great?" my son asked, and he was giggling.
Lucas smiled at our son, affectionately patting Enrique's head. "You're doing fantastic. We'll work on the backstroke later. And I'll teach you how to ride a bike, okay?"
"Yes, Dad! Thank you!" my son exclaimed with excitement.
I returned to the kitchen, tears of joy welling up in my eyes. It was heartwarming to witness, even if it was only because of our agreement.
Suddenly, Lucas approached me and he was glaring as if I did something wrong to offend him this time. I frowned at the situation because at one moment, he was kind, then the next, he was back to his old self. What a confusing bastard!
"What's wrong with you?" His voice raised.
"Are you mad at me?"
"Shouldn't I be?" Lucas asked. "Come here," he said and hugged me tightly.
I squealed slightly, afraid he might think I was too flirtatious, even though it's true. Of course, this is probably my last chance, and if I mess things up with Lucas, I would be hopeless.
"You just want to get another round in," I jokingly said, and when he lowered his face towards me, I expected him to kiss me, but he didn't!
"Don't you want to?" He asked me softly.
"Of course, I do!" I said and immediately showed him that I do want another round by biting his lower lip.
Lucas didn't miss the opportunity to prove once again how powerful he was to me. No holding back, he started to work to please me. I was expecting direct intimacy between us since we've done it multiple times before.
"Don't do that," I tried to push his head away from my private parts.
It tickled what he was doing. Every flick of his tongue was like I was being carried away with pleasure.
"Lucas..." I repeatedly called his name as he pleasured me.
He just groaned in response to my calls, and when he groaned, his voice vibrated towards my womb. I accidentally pulled his hair because of how good he was.
Maybe Lucas felt that I was close to reaching the peak of pleasure, so he slid his tongue upwards. When his mouth reached my breasts, he immediately captured one of them. Again, I was left gasping for air, feeling like I was about to faint from the pleasure when he suddenly entered me.
Although I expected his entry, I still wasn't prepared for the sensation of his hardness. When he started moving in and out of me, his back was full of scratches.
"Lucas... now, please." I begged him, asking to reach the peak of pleasure together.
He agreed, so he hastened his movements on top of me.
I clung tightly to his body as he took me to the highest point. We floated up there for a few moments, and when it was time to come back down, we were both gasping for breath.
"I think we need to rest for a while," I suggested to him.
"Yes, we will do that. You drained my energy, Zara," Lucas complained a minute later.
"Is it my fault? Wow, you're so thick-skinned. You're the one who can't sit still because of how beautiful I am," I teased him.
The surroundings were already dark when we woke up. Our bodies were exhausted, so we didn't have a chance to have lunch. When I looked at him, he looked so stressed.
"You look like a mess," I said to him.
"You think you're so beautiful, look at yourself in the mirror." Lucas retorted, but I think I already know what he wants to imply.
From the beginning, I knew what I looked like when I lack sleep. It's simple, like hmmm, I looked like a panda. Or maybe my eyes look like they were punched by a boxer. Dark circles were real for me when I couldn't get enough sleep.
I wrinkled my nose as he left me staring blankly and went inside the bathroom ahead of me. All I needed was a shower, and voila, my charm would return.
"Hey, wait for me!" Lucas called as I was about to enter the bathroom.
"Hurry up, you're so slow, like a turtle." I said to Lucas, but before I let him enter the bathroom, I gave him a condition. "Don't come inside, okay?" When he nodded, he seemed pleased.
"I'll just withdraw it, don't worry," he replied softly.
"Hey, that's not what I meant," I complained about what he said, even though it was related to our previous topic.
"I know. You are still on pills, right?" he inquired because it was one of his demands after our marriage. He prohibited me to become pregnant again without his permission.
I just nodded in response.
Later in the evening, Lucas left without telling me where he was going, but I knew it was because of Giselle. I had nothing to say about that. My son fell asleep early, exhausted from his swimming lesson.
I couldn't understand why there was a can of beer in the fridge, but I felt like I needed a drink. My heart remained restless. I hadn't completely moved on from Lucas. There was still a lingering pain whenever he went to see his real love, something I could never replace.
For tonight, the only way I could ease that pain was by drowning myself in beer. Just for tonight, I thought.
In the morning, I woke up with a pounding headache, despising the familiar sensation of a hangover after indulging in too much alcohol. Perhaps I had gone overboard last night. Glancing at the clock, my eyes twitched.
"Shit!" I exclaimed, surprised to find Enrique absent from my side. Making my way downstairs to the living room, the door swung open, revealing Lucas already dressed in his corporate attire.
"I brought the child..." his voice sounded monotone.
I stood frozen, realizing he had caught me in this state. It didn't matter to him if I looked like a mess or a witch; his indifference was palpable. In his eyes, there was only one woman of beauty-Giselle. Lucas gazed at her as if no one else existed. To him, she was a goddess, his Aphrodite, while I was merely a peasant.
There I went, once again, shrinking into myself. I needed to regain control! I pushed aside my thoughts and resolved to visit the store first before heading to Antoinette's place.
While I was lost in my thoughts, Lucas touched my arm, sending an electric shock through me, reminiscent of our first kiss. Startled, I pulled away. He looked at me with such seriousness, an intensity that became unbearable, and I had to avert my gaze.
"If you can't handle drinking, you shouldn't have touched the beer," he scolded me.
My face flushed with embarrassment. I recalled leaving the room last night, feeling nauseous, and ending up vomiting on none other than Lucas. Oh, how I wished the walls would swallow me whole!
I muttered, "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry."
But he ignored me and proceeded straight to his home office. After grabbing a folder, he left for the company. I sighed, taking a moment to compose myself. I freshened up with a shower, changed into a decent black shirt and pants, grabbed my Chanel bag, and hopped into my car to tend to my business.
"The sales are going well, ma'am. How's Enrique? Is your adorable son doing alright?" Mariz, one of my employees at the mall shop, knew my son well since he often preferred to be there rather than at home.
"By the grace of God, my son is doing fine," I replied with a smile.
Before fulfilling the pregnant woman's request, I focused on fixing things at work. She seemed content; there was no sign of stress in her appearance or demeanor. She was one of those rare people who managed to stay radiant during pregnancy, defying the idea that it should be an ugly phase.
Once everything was in order and signed in my office, I briefed Mariz on her tasks and headed straight to Antoinette's upscale subdivision. It didn't take long for me to park my car in front of an imposing mansion. It wouldn't surprise me if Antoinette's house looked like this. She had a penchant for Victorian-era mansions with classical themes.
Since the gate guards recognized me, they allowed me entry. I had to pass by a grand fountain in the middle, facing the three-story mansion-towering and alluring. I was warmly greeted by the pregnant woman, already in the living room, accompanied by renowned hair and beauty experts in the country. She meant business when she said we were going for a makeover.
"Finally, you're here!" she exclaimed joyfully, her pregnancy bump evident. She looked stunning in every way possible-truly beautiful.
"Sorry for the delay. I was taking care of some business matters." I immediately noticed that everything was ready.
"Let's go," she declared excitedly.
My guess about her taste wasn't wrong. We started with a massage, focusing on my back, of course. A hairstylist worked wonders on my neglected hair, transforming it into an apple cut that suited me. We proceeded with facials, face massage, cleansing, and nail design-a truly refreshing experience. As one of Antoinette's makeup artists worked on my eyebrows, she teased me, unable to contain herself.
"How are you and your husband? Still the same jerk?" Antoinette smirked, her eyes fixed on a magazine she held.
I smiled and shook my head. "Nothing will change there, Antoinette. That's just who he is. He was forced into this marriage, and he felt suffocated by it."
"You're a kind soul, my dear friend. Maybe you're already an angel! Don't carry the burden of all the sins. Why should you bear it alone? You know he's the one at fault. It's truly terrifying, this victim-blaming!" She couldn't help but vent her frustrations.
"We've endured for six years." I tried to explain.
"And thank you for finally seeing the truth! Date Nick. That's my recommendation!" She exclaimed, brimming with excitement. Oh dear, she just couldn't let go of that topic!
"Please, let go of that idea already. It's embarrassing for our friend. Nick is just a kind person, and there's no ulterior motive or malice in anything Antoinette does. That's the point, nothing more." Her insistence on Nick and me was causing me distress and straining our friendship.
"You're so dense, my dear Zara. That's why the man is still single. He's waiting for someone to divorce her husband, and that someone is you. He's waiting for you today!"
I paid little attention to Antoinette's words. I simply dismissed the idea.
Feeling extremely relaxed from the massage, my hangover dissipating, and the silence around me, I closed my eyes and unknowingly drifted off to sleep. I woke up around 5 PM, realizing I hadn't picked up my son!
Thankfully, Lucas had taken care of it. He made the effort, even though it wasn't his responsibility. He sent me a text informing me that he had picked up our child, providing me with much-needed relief.
Before leaving, Antoinette handed me a dress and sandals, saying, "Your makeover is stunning, but it doesn't match what you're wearing. Take these; no one leaves my house looking anything less than beautiful."
"Zara, wait!"
I felt like fainting from nervousness when I heard Nick's voice approaching. When I looked at Lucas, he just shrugged and looked at me too. I approached Lucas and held his hand to let him know that I chose him from the beginning.
"Nick...," I said as he approached us.
"I went to Antoinette's house, but you had already left by the time I got there," Nick said.
"This is Lucas, my husband, in case you forgot," I said to Nick in case he forgot about the man or didn't notice him at all. He didn't even glance at Lucas.
"I saw you crying earlier, so I thought you were alone. Anyway, I'll just follow you," Nick said.
"Nick, I'm warning you! Don't visit me at home," I said, but he just grinned. For the first time since we met again, I felt annoyed with him.
"Your husband invited me," Nick jokingly replied, and I didn't like that, to be honest.
"Zara, come on!" Lucas called me again, so I left Nick.
As I got into the car, I smiled at him, but he didn't respond. He just gestured for me to put on my seatbelt, and I complied.
"I'm so- Ayyyyyyyyy!" I screamed loudly when Lucas decided to show off his driving skills.
I glared at Lucas, but he didn't care that I was mad at what he did. My soul almost left my body when he sped up the car. He didn't even care that we could have had an accident because of what he did.
When we arrived at home, I still felt annoyed with him. He could have told me that he didn't want to see Nick's face at home or that he was mad at me for calling my ex. Instead, he just ignored me in front of Nick. It's more infuriating when it's like that, my dear!
"So, is this how it's going to be?" I asked him. "FYI, I don't like this. If you're mad at me, just say so. If you don't want me anymore, just tell me."
I gave him an ultimatum.
"Don't I have the right to be mad?" Lucas retaliated with a question.
"You do, but not like this. It's even more annoying that you're ignoring me!" I said to him.
"Why did you call him?" Lucas asked.
Finally, I heard the most important question I wanted to hear since earlier. "I was annoyed with you," I told him.
He furrowed his brow while looking at me. "You were annoyed with me? Why?"
"Because you were always with Giselle!" I answered him truthfully because that was the reason why I cried in frustration.
"A little misunderstanding, and you called him right away," Lucas said with a voice that seemed to be sulking. "Tell me, Zara. Do you still have feelings for him?"
"Nope. Why would I have feelings for my friend?"
"Why did you call him then? You probably have friends, right?" Lucas added.
"Yes, I got friends. Nick and Antoinette," I replied and he got more furious.
For a few seconds, he just stared at me and didn't say anything. "Ex-lovers can never be friends, Zara," Lucas said.
"He is not my ex-lover," I told him.
"Oh really, Zara? In case you have forgotten, we went to the same university and I saw that bastard always hovering at you!"
"It's because he is my friend!"
"How naïve. Do you really think that a man just wanted to be friends with a woman? Silly girl," he remarked.
