Chapter Twenty-One
Terese was too far gone to argue with him or even give a snarky reply. Her body thrummed with excitement, every nerve dancing, her skin singing. Turning her head to the side, she supposed she should reciprocate, if the sex machine would give her a second to recover. But of course, he didn’t.
He hovered over her for a half a second before crashing his lips into hers. Those damn soul kisses, they completely undid her. She kissed him wildly, rolling back and forth on the pillows.
A sharp pain dug into her hip, and she hissed. Drew pulled back immediately. “You okay?”
She rubbed at her side and pointed to his belt. “That’s hazard ware. Get rid of it.”
Grinning, Drew made a show of removing his belt and pants. The pause gave her a second to remember essential equipment. Reaching behind the big cushion, she produced a condom and tossed it to him. He nodded, making another show of pulling the damn thing on.
Shaking her head, she reached up for him, but he wagged a finger at her. “Remember, good experiences with heights.”
She pouted. “But I just had a good experience. Why stop now? You’re good to go there.”
She reached for him again, but he batted her hand away.
“Shove over.”
Raising her eyebrows with a question, she scooted over on the big cushion, leaving a space for Drew beside her. Flopping on his back, he held his hand out to her.
Was he nuts? She’d already come twice, and now he wanted… Her gaze roved up and down his body, muscled, sweaty, and ready for action. Oh, hell yeah. She curled into him, returning the soul kiss, making him groan.
Rolling carefully, she balanced on her knees, teasing him. He ran his hands down her thighs, his gaze locked on hers. Slowly, she lowered her body onto his. Resisting the urge to snap her head back and ride him like a bronco, she stilled herself, closed her eyes.
Below her, Drew twitched, letting out a long hiss of breath. He grasped her hips and gently pushed, then pulled her. She moaned, her head falling back.
“Oh no,” he whispered. “That’s not how you do it. Open your eyes, Terese.” She shook her head slightly, lost in the sensation between her legs. He squeezed her hips, stopping the movement. “Open them.”
Sighing, she took him in. His golden curls, though shorter now, formed a halo around his head. His dark eyes bore into hers. Sweat beaded his forehead, his mouth tight. She shifted, causing his face to contort with pure pleasure. Yeah, who was he to give orders?
She smirked, waiting for him to release her so she could move freely and get down to business. Without opening his eyes, he said, through gritted teeth, “Don’t look at me. Look at the view.”
Pulling a shallow breath, she peeked out, beyond the tent to the magnificent view of the waterfalls and cliffside. So open. So fast. So fucking high. Panic shot through her, and she froze in place. Trembling, she almost collapsed on top of him.
His hands gripped her tight, rocking her hips. “Open them,” he whispered. She shook her head. No way. She refused to open her eyes, but he felt so good inside her, and his voice— “Terese.” She forced herself to glimpse again. For him. For both of them.
She studied the scenery, focusing on small things, the birds, the leaves of the trees, telling herself being with Drew was worth every terrifying moment. He pushed her harder, thrusting into her. Her body took over, riding him, grinding him into the pillows as she marveled at the plunging water. She found herself trying to match its rhythm.
Drew groaned deeply. He was almost there. Sensation overwhelming her, she decided to send him over the cliff as he’d done to her twice before. Gripping his shoulders, she gazed down at him and licked her lips. He moaned, thrusting harder.
“Like this, baby,” she cooed as his gaze met hers. Squeezing and twisting her body just so, she threw them both over in a waterfall of sensation and passionate screams. She collapsed onto his chest, listening to his racing heart. A calmness melted over her, not only from the great sex and cuddle, but the relief of knowing Drew was still in her life.
He kissed her long and deep. The strength vanished from her limbs, and she lay limp in his arms. Her eyes closed, and she basked in the comfort of his embrace. But their conversation before their clothes disappeared niggled in her mind. “You really quit?” she asked, a bit awed. How could he walk away from a guaranteed job for life? For her? She had no words.
“Yeah, the job was getting boring anyway. The tail was so old,” he quipped, rocking her in his arms. “No new hot chicks for late night ‘board meetings’ if you know what I mean.” He chuckled.
Sitting up, she found her attitude returning. “There better not be any ‘board meetings.’” Her hands fisted on her hips, and she glared at him.
“There she is.” He palmed her cheek. “There’s my girl.”
“You really resigned?”
“Yep.”
“For me?”
“For us.”
Her mind spun as she gazed into his mirth-filled eyes. “Let me tell you, I don’t date unemployed guys. You better get a job, buster.” She smirked.
“You’re one to talk, Miss ‘The IRS is coming to get me.’” He grinned, but a sliver of trepidation lurked in his eye.
She hesitated. “Yeah, about that. Not so much my problem now. Poor Alan.” She hoped the relief and empathy in her voice told Drew all he needed to know. She was safe, thanks to him.
“Come here you.” He pulled her down onto the pillows. A gentle breeze flapped the tent overhead, and in the peaceful moment in Drew’s arms, the quiet rustle of the waterfalls tickled her ears.
She sighed deeply. “I could get used to this,” she murmured.
Drew nuzzled her neck, his arms squeezing her even tighter. “Even with the heights?”
“Sure. As long as you stay around.” She locked her gaze with his.
“As you wish.”
