Rahziel and the other two dragons placed Zira and the gang near the edge of the battle. She wanted to get closer but it was too crowded for the dragons to get land.
“Rahziel, can you continue the assault from above without hitting the allies,” Zira said.
Rahziel glanced quickly over the battlefield and shook his head before shifting back into Blaze. The other two followed suit except for the dragon Hunter was on.
“We can fight on the ground but we won’t be able to take out as many,” Blaze said. “Igor’s blast range is small enough, so if we roped them into one area he could freeze them.”
“That’s going to have to work. For now we have to get inside but make sure you check on Saphyra,” Zira said, pointing in her directions.
Blaze didn’t hesitate to head Saphyra’s way with the other dragons except Igor, who only stayed because Hunter was hugging him.
“I know we made a great team, Igor, but I have to go,” Hunter sniffed. “Just know, this bond…was real, man.”
Hunter hugged Igor again before looking at Isaiah with his ‘puppy eyes’. Isaiah shook his head.
“Fine, you can stay out here,” Isaiah said.
“Yes,” Hunter said, jumping back on the dragon. “Let’s dragon out my friend.”
Hunter and Igor took to the air as Zira and the gang ran towards the castle. They dashed between the fighting as Hunter and Igor cleared the path for them.
“Yeah,” Hunter yelled as Igor spit out another zombie. “That’s my boy.”
Zira felt weak and almost stumbled up the steps when Percy and Isaiah each caught her arm.
“Zira, you have to be careful,” Niamh warned her, “We have exerted so much already raising those dragons. We need a moment.”
“We don’t have time for a moment, Niamh,” Zira said. “Every second we waste gives them another second they become more powerful. We do this now.”
“Hell yeah,” Nina raged. “I’m so ready for this.”
Zira took a deep breath, steadying herself in Isaiah’s and Percy’s hold. “I’m fine, boys. I got this. Let’s go.”
They headed inside and Zira could feel a strange energy flowing through the halls. It felt as if it was pulling her. Before she could act, Zed screamed in pain and fell to the ground. He grabbed the side of his head as Zira knelt down beside him.
“Zed, what’s wrong,” Zira asked.
“Mary,” he gritted. “She’s in trouble, Zi.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll find her!”
“No,” he said before taking a deep breath and standing up slowly. “I’m going with you.”
“Zed-”
“She’s my mate and I’m going with you.”
With not much time to argue with him, Zira ran through the halls and came to a dead end. The hallway that was once there was replaced with a caved-in rooftop. Courtesy of Saphyra, of course. They needed to find a way around and quickly.
An explosion rocked the grounds and Zira couldn’t tell if it was outside or inside. A second later she could feel something powerful flowing through the area. She could feel Niamh’s anxiousness.
“Do you know what that was,” Zira asked Niamh.
“The same power that day at the fountain,” Niamh said.
“We have to hurry,” Zira yelled over the commotion. “Ezekiel, find us a way around this.”

Clary watched as Finnick touched the ball of energy and felt a surged run through her body. She never felt as powerful as she did at this moment.
“We are almost there,” Finnick said to her. “Then we will be able to control whatever and whoever we want.”
Next to her stood the Queen Luna held by Malachi. She was expecting company and she knew he would do anything she wanted with the Queen by her side. She didn’t need to turn around when she heard the door to the library bust open.
Queen Luna struggled against Malachi’s hold when the Alpha King and his warriors walked closer to them. Clary slowly turned around with a smile on her face. The Alpha King was blocked by the small army of soulless white wolves, ready to fight with one word from Clary.
“Took you long enough,” Finnick said through Clary while walking in front of Queen Luna. “I thought I was going to have to kill her.”
“If you hurt her…”
“Let me stop you there,” Finnick said, interrupting him with the wave of his hand. “Don’t you think if I wanted to hurt her I would’ve. She’s not important to me at all. You, on the other hand, are.”
The Alpha King looked confused for a moment before looking past Finnick to Malachi. He had an idea but needed to get closer.
“Fine, if you wanted me then let us through,” the Alpha King growled.
There was a momentary pause before the soulless parted and created a path. The Alpha King walked through but his warriors were stopped by the soulless.
“Stand down,” the Alpha King spoke to them.
He continued down the path until she was only a few feet from Clary and the Queen Luna. His hands were itching to grab her and take her to safety.
“Now, wasn’t that easy,” Clary smiled.
The Alpha King looked at Malachi again before releasing his power over him. He was the King of all werewolves, so controlling Malachi was a piece of cake, especially since he was so close to him. Restrain Clary, now, he spoke through his link as he watched Malachi struggle momentarily before releasing Queen Luna and grabbing Clary. The Alpha King went to grab Queen Luna before a streak of lightning flashed between them, pushing them further apart from each other.
He could hear his warriors trying to fight through but they were overtaken by the soulless. He turned around to see Finnick holding Malachi in the air. In an instance, he took Malachi’s soul before Clary even noticed.
“No!” Malachi’s body fell to the ground. “I said he was off limits!” Clary fell to the ground momentarily before Finnick took over her body and moved her away from him.
“He’s a mindless puppet with the Alpha King nearby. No more distractions. We need to finish what we started and we’re so close."
Now with full control Finnick walked over to the Alpha King, who was recovering from the electric blast. The Alpha King looked for his mate, who was lying in the ground curled up a distance away. He stood to run to her when Finnick sent another bolt of lightning, stopping him in his tracks.
"I'm not done with you yet," Finnick hissed.
The Alpha King growled at him and Finnick could see him shifting. Finnick shocked him again, sending him flying across the room closer to the energy ball.
"Haven't you learned," Finnick asked with an air of arrogance. He created an electric charge in his hand and aimed it at the Alpha King. "You normal wolves can't hold a candle to the power we have. We should be the ones in charge and maybe just maybe the other wolves would show us some respect. You say you're nothing like your ancestor yet the lives of white wolves are still being threatened today, but don't worry. I’m going to change that. First I need something from you.”
Finnick grabbed both sides of the Alpha King’s face and shadows flowed over the Alpha King’s body. The pain from it caused the Alpha King to growl as he shielded his mind away from Queen Luna. Still he could hear her screaming nearby. He tried to fight against the hold but the shock rocked his body until he almost felt numb. Then out of the corner of his eye, he saw a few bricks being hurled towards them.
With a quickness, Finnick dropped the Alpha King and evaporated the brick with lightning. When the dust settled, Finnick could see Lana standing near the door with more bricks surrounding her
“Clary,” Lana yelled. “What the hell are you doing?!”
“The one thing you could never do,” Finnick said through her. “White wolves will be in power now. No one will ever hurt us again.”
“But you’re hurting us,” Ezekiel screamed. “Look around at what you’ve done. Look at Malachi!”
Finnick could feel Clary trying to resist him at the thought of Malachi but he successfully held her back.
“I was talking about my library,” Lana said mostly to herself, looking around at the destruction.
“Finnick.” He turned around as Zira stepped forward. “Don’t do this,” Niamh said through her. “You’re giving that demon full control and it will only make things worse. It promises you power in exchange for souls but it will never be enough until everything and everyone around you is dead.”
Finnick scoffed. “And why do you care? You lost your vengeance, and apparently your love for me the moment he,” Finnick growled, pointing at Percy, “came into your life. I thought killing him would be enough but he can’t seem to stay dead.”
He turned back to the ball of energy and smiled. Everything was finally working in his favor. All that was left was absorbing the ball in front of him. He just needed a distraction. He raised his hand and the soulless created a barrier around him.
“Kill them,” he told them as he brought his attention back to the Alpha King. The soulless descended on the group as they prepared to fight.
