Danica’s POV
Alpha Nicholas's lips were on mine, his body pressed against me, igniting a fire so fierce it threatened to consume us both.
He guided me back onto the dewy grass, positioning himself above me, his lips fiercely engaging with mine in an attempt to erase every shred of uncertainty, every quarrel, and every hurtful word that had been exchanged between us.
At first, I resisted me, my hands pressing firmly against his chest as if determined to maintain distance. But then, something changed. I allowed his hands to roam down my body, fingers tracing the contours of his muscles until they reached his waist. My grip tightened on the waistband of his pants before slowly releasing it, as a quiet moan escaped my lips.
Our movements became synchronized; each thrust met with an eager response. The sounds of passion filled the air around us, moans, sighs, and ragged breaths telling a story that words could never capture. In that moment, we became lost in one another, raw emotions spilling over as we danced together under the moonlit sky.
Then, the sound of the gong shattered the moment and we quickly pulled away from each other with urgency.
The deep, resounding clang echoed through the night, shaking the very foundation of the Pack House. It was a sound we all feared but were trained to face without hesitation.
An attack.
Nicholas pulled away from me instantly, his heated gaze replaced by something darker, rage, fury, and the cold, calculating hunger for war.
I had always believed I was the only one who lived for battle. But now, staring into the Alpha’s eyes, I realized he did too.
"Danica," he said, his voice urgent.
I turned just as he closed the distance between us, his arms wrapping around me in a fierce embrace. His hold was tight, almost desperate, as though he feared letting go would mean losing me forever.
"Be safe," he muttered against my ear.
I swallowed hard, nodding against his chest before he pulled away. His hand found mine, gripping it tightly as we rushed out of the room, sprinting toward the Pack House entrance.
Outside, the warriors were already gathering, their eyes filled with determination. The scent of burning wood filled the air, mixed with the metallic tang of blood. The distant howls of our enemies sent a shiver down my spine.
Without wasting another second, I dashed toward my room, grabbed my sword, and bolted back outside.
The moment I stepped into the open, my breath hitched.
The entire Pack House was under siege.
Bodies littered the ground—some of our own, some of our enemies. The courtyard was soaked in crimson, the earth beneath my feet slippery with the blood of the fallen.
A deafening explosion erupted from the Alpha’s quarters, sending a shockwave through the battlefield.
My heart clenched in fear.
“Nicholas!” I screamed, racing toward the blast site.
The thick smoke stung my eyes, but I pushed forward. My instincts screamed at me to be ready, that something, or someone, was waiting in the shadows.
And then, I saw Alpha Kendrick.
He stood in the middle of the destruction, the fire’s glow reflecting in his cold, calculating eyes. A sinister smirk curled on his lips as he raised a dagger, its sharp edge gleaming in the flickering flames.
I froze.
"Will you be mine now," he taunted, his voice a chilling whisper, "or his?"
