The Devil’s Mercy

Ch. 4 / 20 Oct 27, 2025

“What the hell happened to you?” he asked when the lamp post hits her face. “And who is this little bundle your holding?

Angelina cooed and reached for Storm. Storm backs away, afraid of the child. Livvy points at her bruises, “This, Stanley.” Then she turned to the baby she’s holding, “And this, is Angelina. My daughter.”

Storm sighed and gave her a once over. “You’re coming with me.

Storm didn’t wait for an argument. His grip was firm around her wrist, pulling her toward his car without hesitation.

She wrenched back. “I’m not.”

Storm exhaled through his nose, tilting his head. Amusement curled at the edges of his mouth, but there was something else beneath it. Something sharp.

“You know what I am,” she said, her voice hoarse.

He grinned. “You always did.”

The memories flickered through her mind like old film.

Storm had always been there, lingering in the background of her teenage years, watching her with that infuriating smirk. She remembered how he used to whisper things under his breath when Michael wasn’t looking, words meant only for her.

You’d look better without that dress, Angel.

One day, you’ll wonder what it’s like with someone who can actually make you feel something.

He had never touched her. Never crossed the line. But he had made damn sure she knew he wanted to. And now, she was in his car.

The engine hummed beneath them, the low purr filling the silence. She stared at the dashboard, her fists clenched in her lap. Angelina is fast asleep in her arms now.

“I’m not staying in your crack house.”

Storm let out a low chuckle, drumming his fingers against the steering wheel. “You think so little of me?”

“Yes.”

He didn’t argue. Just let the silence stretch between them, letting her sit with the weight of his presence.

When they pulled up to a gated driveway, her stomach dropped. The mansion loomed in front of her, all sleek windows and quiet wealth, the kind of place that belonged to men who never had to ask for anything.

Her fingers curled into the fabric of her coat. Storm shifted in his seat, watching her reaction.

His grin was slow, deliberate. “Not bad, huh?”

She exhaled through her nose, but she didn’t answer. Because this wasn’t just about money, this was about control. And men like Storm never gave without expecting something in return.
