Mia carefully hid the wound in her hand that was spreading little by little. It was taking its toll on and she knew she could no longer hide it. But she feared the impulsive behavior from both husband and brother. The only one she could confide in was Boshu, because Roe, was also . They would attack head on in anger and for revenge without giving her any more to find out more about their new enemy's nature.
" Tell me Mia, what is it that you wanted to talk about. Why couldn't we talk in front of them? "
Boshu sneaked away from the campsite that they had made. They were lucky enough to find an further west from the spot where they were almost about to crash. They made a fire and cooking something for them to eat.
Mia said nothing but grabbed his hand and pulled him further away, making sure there was no for the others to hear them.
She slowly lifted her dress and revealed the small wound which was by that time quite .
" Oh my gosh! Mia! What is that? How did you get that?"
One look at it and Boshu went reeling back but Mia pulled him back again and begged for his .
" Sshh! Be quite. This happened at that wall. It's very unusual. My wolf senses have fully , yet I'm not healing. I cannot tell them yet, you know. I need to find out the nature of ... but before that, I would need someone to suck this poison out of my vein. It's very swiftly . "
Boshu needed no more instructions, he pulled Mia's arm towards himself and began pulling the blood off. He spat as he went about with his work, both ignoring the possibility that the of Mia's blood would go unnoticed and sure enough her family came rushing, looking for .
" Mia... Mia where are... Boshu? Mia? What are the two of you doing here? "
It was Roe who caught the sight of the two of them. Mia quickly adjusted her dress as Boshu the blood off his lips.
" Mia are you hurt? Where did all this blood come from?"
Lin asked, looking at the stained grass.
Xie bent down , trying to sniff it when Mia swiftly intervened.
" It's nothing. I just fell and got bruised. Boshu grabbed me just in time. I'm so hungry Lin.... let's and eat what you were cooking. "
It wasn't easy but she was able to avert the situation for the time being.
However, Roe seemed like she caught onto something when Boshu could not meet her eyes.
He kept averting her and she kept on observing the two of them silently.
No sooner did they sit down to eat, Boshu began to sweat profusely.
" Honey, you alright ? "
Roe passed the water to him as he began choking on his own food and then he began vomiting.
He vomited the food out along with the few traces of poison that he has sucked in.
Roe looked even more concerned about Boshu's condition.
She could not fathom what her sister and husband had been up to or what they were hiding.
" Boshu, what have you been eating.... "
Xie exclaimed as he sniffed what he had poured out.
" You have food poisoning little birdie... time to give your tummy some resting.... "
Boshu made a face and laid back. In fact, he himself wasn't feeling that good after sucking the blood away from Mia's veins.
" Are you feeling sleepy already? " Xie joked.
" When we were little, you know the good old days of our bird kind, where we lived under our king and Queen.... there was this folk lore about a False Dragon Lord .... A Dragon without hands or legs...they used it to scare us to sleep you know... "
Boshu smiled as he slowly closed his eyes on Roe's lap.

Mia wondered aloud.
" That's no dragon... that's a snake... "
Lin joked as he too lay on Mia's lap, looking up at the stars.
" The serpent bearer... "He suddenly exclaimed pointing upwards and sitting up.
" A serpent indeed.... they would say that if we made loud noises, the serpent would awaken gobble down all our eggs ... and then he would turn his attention towards the children.... we would instantly fall asleep. No more questioning. It worked every time, though nobody ever really seen that False Dragon King. "
Boshu added, dozing off as Roe patted he forehead.
Lin looked at Mia and then held her hand. He slowly pulled her dress up to check the spot she was wounded.
Luckily, it had healed. Only a scar remained at the spot where there was a cavity spreading only few moments ago.
Seemed like sucking the poison out had worked but Mia wondered why it hadn't worked before she tried to cut the wound open and drain the contaminated blood?
" Probably the suction was needed to draw all the poison out, " She wondered in silence.
" It's not very common to be able to spot the Snake Bearer , specially at this time.... it's not even .... Ruby would have been able to tell more about it... "
Xie heaved a deep sigh.
Mia got up and went beside her brother and placed her hand ove this shoulder,
" I am sorry. I know you must be missing Ruby a lot.I am sorry I couldn't trust anybody else with little one... "
" Oh, come on Mia. It's nothing.... besides, it would be not be possible to have a fish roasted like for dinner had she been here with us.... "
He joked as Mia made a face and shoved him at his rib.
" I am also half a mermaid... remember? "
She smiled before going back to Lin and snuggling into his arms.
She and Boshu exchanged a look of concern, momentarily before looking away again.
However,only Roe caught them in the act.
