Evan’s POV
“You know you like her. Ask her already and stop being an egotistical boss who got his head stuck up his butt!” Emily nagged for the thousandth time.
She had come to my office to remind me about our family’s dinner tonight. Of course she could of called me, but she had to go the extra mile of showing up and breaking my walls down a bit to ask Jasmine as my date. Emily had a date and she wanted me to have one as well.
“I don’t think she’ll accept. Her mom is coming home and she’ll want to spend time with her, Emily,” I explained as to why I hadn’t asked her to the dinner.
“You’re only making excuses after excuses. Here’s what, if you don’t ask her, then I will.”
“EMILY NO!”
It made no difference yelling to her and trying to stop her because she was already out the door.
She came back with Jasmine tailing right behind her. Emily sat back down in the chair she had been sitting in and offered Jasmine a seat.
Jasmine looked between us like if we had caught her with her hands in the cookie jar. She was frightened.
I knew Emily’s approach must have been of a firm one. She always did that to make a ‘Boss Impression’ as she called it.
“Did I do something wrong?” Jasmine asked, rubbing her hands together and lowering her head to avoid our eyes.
“No. But my dear brother has something to ask you,” Emily answered.
Jasmine’s beautiful chocolate brown eyes locked on me as she lifted her head up. I remained silent which made me earned a dreadful look from Emily.
“Evan, if you’re not going to ask her, then I would,” she repeated.
I still remained silent.
“Jasmine, my brother would like to know if you’ll accompany him to our family’s dinner this evening?” she asked with a pleasing smile.
“Ummm... Umm,” Jasmine stuttered already.
“No pressure if you can’t make it. It was only my friendly suggestion,” she quickly responded as a form of having a pride if Jasmine was to refuse the offer.
“This evening?” she asked to clarify.
“Yes. If you agree, he’ll let you out early so you can have enough time to look extra pretty.”
Jasmine blushed, showing her dimples on her cheeks.
“Okay. I accept this friendly offer,” she answered.
My eyes popped. “I thought your mother was coming home today?” I asked.
“It was scheduled for today but she has to get one more test done so it would be tomorrow instead,” she stated.
“Really, okay that’s great. And remember it’s nothing personal and it’s just a friendly get together although you would be meeting our mother, father and younger brother,” Emily informed.
I knew she said that to make her comfortable with going to dinner with me.
“Emily you’re killing me,” I said in a joking way.
“Oh shut up. I did something you didn’t have the balls to do. And I can’t see why you couldn’t ask her yourself. Jasmine is beautiful... Just like the flower indeed,” she snapped back, rising from the chair and taking her bag into her hand.
“Well I’m leaving you two love birds alone now. I have a salon appointment,” she added, making her way to the door.
“I’m sorry,” I said, once Emily had left.
I have one of craziest sister in the world.
“That’s alright, I like your sister. She has Zenia’s personality so I’m used to this. So are you really going to ask me to the dinner or was that all just a show?”
“The dinner is going to happen at my parents’ house and I am inviting you to come along with me.”
“But wouldn’t Miss. Hills be offended by that? Usually, meeting the whole family thing is for the couple and not the employer and his employee,” Jasmine said.
“That’s what you’ll think if we were to be together?” I asked, leaning back in my chair, “Employer-Employee relationship?”
She remained silent, searching her brain for the right answer. My eyes locked onto her body and I couldn’t help but to undress her with them.
She was a fascinating woman.
“No strings attached?” she finally asked.
I let out a laugh.
“Jasmine, are you serious right now? You don’t have to come if you don’t want to. It’s just that my father had been asking about you, and mom is rather inquisitive also. Plus, I got Emily on my back like a tick and also that voice in my head which is on your side too.”
She let out a cute laughter.
“If you’re not comfortable to go with me, I wouldn’t force you to. But it’s just a friendly casual dinner. Think of it like a job function then, if that would float your boat.”
She nodded yes. “I’ll go.”
“Great. I’ll pick you up at 6:30 pm.”
“Was she telling the truth about the time off thing, because....”
I didn’t let her finish.
“You can leave right now.”
“Thank you.”
She got up to leave but I found myself stopping her and pulling her into my arms.
“Are you scared of me?” I asked her softly in her ear.
I felt her body shivering in my gasp and I smirk to myself. I had an effect on her and I liked it.
“No I’m not,” she said, not even looking me in my eyes.
“Well why can’t you even look at me?” I asked her, titling her head upwards so that I was seeing into those beautiful brown eyes she possessed.
“I’m looking at you now,” she said, giving me a smile.
My lips crashed down on hers and I was even happier when she didn’t push me away this time. Her hands went around my neck instantly in support.
I kissed her passionately and very slowly. She had the most softest lips.
“I’ll see you this evening?” I asked between kisses.
“Yes,” she answered as we broke apart.
She looked at me unbelievably.
“Why you kissed me?” she asked.
“I’ll tell you when I see you this evening.”
She nodded then moved passed me and I took another opportunity of pulling her into me again.
I couldn’t explain why, but my body was acting like a magnet, I wanted to stay connected to her.
“Get home safely,” I heard my own voice saying.
“Thank you, and I will.”
I wanted to let her go but I held onto her for another minute or so.
“Bye,” she let out.
“Bye,” I replied. I released her and watched her walked out the door.
‘I don’t want to see Jasmine walk out my life because it would definitely hurt to see her go.’
