His Possession

Chapter 40

Ch. 41 / 43 Feb 04, 2026

POV: KATHERINA

The following days were hectic for both of us as we decorated our home together. Luca worked so hard on living this way that he took care of every silly complaint of mine without any hesitation.

The house had three bedrooms, including the master bedroom, and we made the other two into guest rooms.

The living room had two sets of couches, a TV, a fireplace, and bookshelves in the corner with a painting hung on the wall.

Apart from the beautiful interior design, the house had a wonderful garden, and at night, the house glows beautifully under the moonlight.

Shaftesbury is a beautiful town in North Dorset of England, known for its great history since Saxon times.

The weather is cold since it’s February, and Luca’s finding it hard to cope since Rome is humid most of the time.

We are situated far from the town, close to the hills with neighbors at least an acre apart from us, and even though it’s a little scary at night, it’s peaceful.

Since Luca is an international criminal wanted in almost every country, it was hard for him to work this all out, but with Benjamin’s help, everything’s going smoothly now.

We’ve been hearing from Rickard and others every day, and since I didn’t say goodbye before leaving, I miss them all.

My parents haven’t contacted me, but my best friends have. Things at Bridgehills have become unstable since the sheriff is dead and Karen escaped, and the hunt for Luca is still going on.

I was preparing dinner in the kitchen when Luca’s arms wrapped around my waist, and his wet hair started dripping down my neck as he placed a soft kiss on my neck.

“Dinner’s almost ready,” I said, stirring the chicken pasta.

“I’ll set the table,” he said and went away.

“Did you stock the fridge?” I asked.

“Yes, the town’s beautiful. You should visit sometime,” came his reply from the dining room.

“You sure no one recognized you?” I chuckled, but I was worried inside.

“No, but I’m not keeping my hopes high. We might move if things don’t settle in here.”

“We just came here, and you’re talking about moving?” I switched off the stove and carried the bowl to the dining table. “I love it here already, Luca.”

“I know, but that’s not how it works, baby,” Luca took his seat and served the food to us both. “I want what you want, but we can only if the circumstances work.”

I sighed, knowing he was right. “All right, I understand.”

“Did you call your parents?” he asked. I averted my eyes and ate my dinner.

“No, not yet.”

“I thought we talked about this last night. You have to phone them, dear.”

“I know, but… I’m nervous,” I replied truthfully. “It’s been a week since we came here, and they haven’t contacted me yet.”

“Maybe they are waiting for you to call first,” he replied, and I nodded. “Do it soon. otherwise, your father’s going to think that I’m torturing you.”

“Luca, my family will eventually like you, it’s going to take time, but they will accept you.”

“I think I’ve got your Grams’s vote,” he said, and I giggled.

“Sure you do,” I replied. “She was being positive about you when I left. She believed you survived, not lived.”

Luca smiled warmly. “She isn’t wrong. In my twenty-seven years of life, all I did was survive. I started living when you came into my life.”

I took his hand from the table and kissed it. “I love you.”

“I love you more,” he replied.
