Angelina woke up with a start; her vision was in disarray; she didn't know what they injected in her to make her lose all the strength in her body and faint. She gnashed her teeth in anger and thought that had she kept her nails, and her nails would have designed the witch's face.
A groaning sound pulled Angelina out of her thoughts as she swiftly whipped her head to the side and saw a beaten Nathaniel. Nathaniel's upper body was open, and marks and blood covered all his chest; Angelina's body staggered before crawling to him to make sure the man was her husband. As she wanted to move, she tripped on a cloth, and she raised the cloth to curse but stopped, and a tear escaped when she noticed it was Nathaniel's cloth.
He'd wrapped her with his shirt, she thought, and went to him and pulled him in a hug, crying hysterically.
"I'm going to protect you," she wiped her face harshly. She was caressing his swallowed lips softly. Who dares touch her man? She wouldn't take it lightly.
Nathaniel groaned, feeling the coldness of the floor seeping through his skin as he shivered, curling up to give himself warmth but was pulled out of his discomfort by cries. His eyes fluttered open, his brown orbs taking in the teary face on his Angie. He smiled, touching her red face before groaning and pulling himself up.
Nathaniel left some hours after they didn't do what they planned, and as he got to the warehouse, his phone and everything were taken from him before he was hit with the plank. He closed his eyes, taking in all the pain. His first priority was to find where they kept Angelina.
Nathaniel could feel the excruciating pain from his rip, and he knew two or three of his bones would have been broken. And his arm was stinging a lot. They dragged his limped body to a room and dropped him inside, leaving him alone. His eyelids drooped, and he couldn't open them as he breathed through his mouth, his chest rising and falling; he hit his head and laughed mockingly at himself. Karma was a bitch. He never once thought in his life he would be in this beaten, ragged situation. Angelina was his weakness and yet his strength.
He willed himself to move away from the door as he glanced around the cold room to find a curled body on the floor. The fatigue and pain in his body vanished away when he saw Angelina on the floor with her arms wrapped tightly around her stomach. He pulled himself up, limped to Angelina, and caressed her puffy face before he removed his tattered shirt and covered her with it.
He placed her head on his lap, only for Angelina to unconsciously snuggled closer to him and whisper his name in her sleep.
"I'm sorry, Angie, for putting you through all these," he murmured, pecking her hair and feeling fatigued wash over him.
Opening his eyes to her teary face wasn't something Nathaniel wished to see. Her cry was more painful than him getting beaten up, "Angie, stop crying," he raised his hand and caressed her cheek while wiping the tears on her face.
"They hurt you," Angelina said, heaving tears, "They hurt my man," she touched Nathaniel's handsome fade that had been swallowed, "they won't get away with it."
Nathaniel chuckled, liking the tone of his Angie, though it wasn't time for it.
The front door was yanked open, "Is this not our favorite couple," the old man tsked, wheeling his daughter inside as Clara and another green-eyed man followed with some men in suits. "wasn't your head so high before," the man chuckled, coming to Nathaniel but Angelina swatted his hand and glared fiercely at the man.
"Oh the wife has a claw," the man mocked while Angelina didn't back down. "Your husband turned daughter to a cripple β"
"and so fucking what?" Angelina raised her brow, challenging, "she deserved it. That's why she was crippled." she let out.
"And so?" the woman asked in shock, gripping the wheel tightly, "Your husband killed my dream to be a pianist! He broke my hands!" The woman heaved and glared at Angelina before motioning to the man to tie Nathaniel to the empty chair and some of them to hold Angelina down.
The lady smiled evilly, "There's nothing bad in returning favors, right?" she tilted her head as the woman wheeled to Nathaniel. Clara stood defiantly at her front.
"This isn't what we agreed on," Clara said, turning to look at Nathaniel, who didn't put up a fight.
"Deals are meant to be broken," the old man said, standing beside his daughter.
"No way," she yelled, "you fucking promise me if I can get you, Nathaniel, you'll allow me to marry him," she said.
The old man chuckled, "Hahaha, I thought you were a smart lady before, but you are nothing but a slut."
"I want to marry him now," you said. "I help to catch him, so you also help me marry him. I'll get married to him. A win-win situation."
"Hahaha, you are so foolish, that's why females shouldn't be allowed in anything except on bed," the man rubbed his jaw, "they would always whine and bag about everything," his hand rummaged through his pocket.
Clara turned, looking at Nathaniel longingly. She had made a mistake letting him go before, but now, she wouldn't allow it. She wanted him. He was the only reason why she agreed to the deal. She didn't care about what they did to Nathaniel but as long as she could marry him and have his baby. No issue. But now, these people were changing their tune! They promised to kill Angelina and made her marry Nathaniel.
Nathaniel had always been there for her when they grew up, and she never lacked anything with him by her side. She was so jealous when she saw the smile, the dotting, and the attention Nathaniel gave his wife, whereas when they were together, he gave her everything she wanted, but the attention was lacking.
The dotting, attention, and love the substitute bride got from Nathaniel should have been hers and hers only as she clutched the side of her white dress tightly, feeling mad at Angelina. Clara felt like killing her. She wanted her dead! She is an obstacle to Nathaniel! She gritted internally.
And after having Nathaniel, her grandmother would want her back. She exhaled, calming herself as she put on her happy look.
Clara turned to her business partner to sweet talk them about Nathaniel. There was no rush in claiming Nathaniel.
A shocked gasp escaped her lips as she stared at the old man in shock with widened eyes, "What are you doing?" Her voice was shaky. She was frozen in her position.
"Your whining is annoying," the man bit out and cock the gun. Clara's body fell limp on the floor with a thud, blood oozing out from the hole the bullet made in her forehead.
One moment, she was talking about taking Nathaniel, then now, she lay lifeless on the floor. Her eyes were wide open, but it was lifeless, cold.
"Good," Angelina murmured, sighing, "everything is now silent," patting her ears to block out the ringing of guns. Angelina felt no remorse or sad emotion for Clara. She deserved it.
The man motioned to the men in suits, and they bowed, carrying out the old man's order. One of them dragged Clara's lifeless body with her leg out of the room as blood stains followed.
"The nuisance is gone," the man clicked his tongue, walked to where Nathaniel was, and slapped him hard across the face, yet there was no reaction from Nathaniel, which infuriated the man.
The man clapped, and the men wheeled a table inside with many objects on it. Angelina whipped from the table to Nathaniel, who had a mocking smirk on his.
The man β (let's call him Mr. L) stared at the tools on the table with fascination, "I've many things in store for you," he grinned while Nathaniel returned it.
"I'll gladly accept it."
"Let's see if that cockiness would still be there after I'm through," Mr. L took a small plier, looked at it, then dropped it before taking a hammer.
The man's eyes glinted, raising it and slamming it hard on Nathaniel's tied hand; Nathaniel closed his eyes momentarily and breathed in and out unevenly before tilting his head.
"is that all you get?" he grinned.
"No, I've more." the man responded, taking a nail out between the space of his fingers. The man grinned and then slammed again, making Angelina scream out.
Angelina couldn't take it anymore. They were hurting his man, even though Nathaniel was pretending it didn't hurt, but she that was watching knew it would hurt like hell.
"Stop, please!" Angelina pleaded, trying to remove herself from the man's grip, but it was impossible as helpless tears streamed down her eyes.
Nathaniel looked at Angelina and shot her a grimaced smile, "I'm okay," he breathed out, masking his pain.
"No, you aren't!" Angelina yelled while Mr. L and her daughter laughed.
"It's painful, ehn," the man tutted while his daughter pulled her father's suit, trying to get his attention.
"Father," she smiled, staring at Angelina, "Daddy, what if β" she pointed to Angelina, "we make her like how her husband did," she said softly, "won't that be better than making him cry out," then whipped her head to Nathaniel whose eyes were widened with fear.
"No, you can't do that," the fear gripped Nathaniel and slipped out of his voice, making Mr. L drop the blooded hammer with him.
"I think that's a good suggestionβ"
"Don't fucking touch her!" Nathaniel growled, "Fucking touch her and die!" he thrashed on the chair, making the nails in between his fingers hurt his skin, but he didn't care.
"I'm the one who fucking caused your daughter to have a disability, fucking face me, not an innocent person," he said in agitation, groaning.
"What if I don't?" the man asked, placing his hand on both sides of Nathaniel's wooden chair, shaking it, "What if I beat her up? What ifβ"
"I'm sorry," Nathaniel whispered, his head downcast. He couldn't let his pregnant wife get hurt because of him.
"What did you say?" the crippled lady asked in shock, staring at Nathaniel as if he had grown another head.
"I'm sorry for what I didn't, but please β" he sucked in his breath, "Don't hurt my wife."
The lady laughed cruelly and wheeled to Angelina angrily, "When I was begging you, when I was β" she kicked Angelina in her stomach, making her groan, "I said I'm sorry and please, but you continue to hit my hands and legs," then yanked Angelina by her hair as Angelina thrashed, her hair stung, off was like the lady wanted to pull her hair from her scalp, dragging her to where Nathaniel was. "It is your husband β"
The lady couldn't finish her words when Angelina turned her body; thanks to her daily yoga exercise, her body was able to change position, and she pulled the lady by her legs, making the lady fall.
And immediately, without missing, Angelina pounced on her, snacking, clawing her while chomping on her body, biting her neck. "Don't ever talk β" the men panicked as they tried to pull a crazy Angelina from their mistress, but it was impossible. Angelina's teeth weren't releasing the lady's skin before she wrapped her hands around her neck, straggling the lady with her eyes opened with a vengeance.
"You can't hurt my man and think of escaping!" Angelina screamed, liking how the lady who was all high before was trembling under her body, "please," the lady choked out as Angelina felt the woman's struggle start to cease. She smiled, but it was short lifted because she felt pain at the back of her head.
The strength in Angelina's hands was released as she whipped her head to the back to see the intruder. She saw Mr. L holding a bloodied plank, and she grinned, her eyes getting hazy.
Angelina tasted a metallic compound in her mouth and was surprised to taste then felt liquid rolling from her face, and she laughed awkwardly, touching her temple and noticing it wet with blood. The strength and energy she felt earlier vanished, and she fell slumped on the lady who was still recovering and grinned.

Angelina's body was thrown to the wall by the men as they rushed their young mistress out for attention. A tear escaped Nathaniel's eyes, and his heart clenched in pain at seeing Angelina's body. His Angie was a fearless person.
He moved the chair with great difficulty as he moved to where Angelina's body was. He really hoped she was okay. His fingers stung a lot, and his body was protesting from his strenuous moving, but he didn't care; Angelina was the one in his mind. He did not care if he died, but nothing must happen to Angelina.

"I want this bread, not that!" Angelina whined, pouting at Nathaniel, who smiled at her cuteness.
"But these bread are the same, made by the same person."
"No," she huffed, "that bread is different from this," she gesticulated the difference, "This is calling for me, but that doesn't," she raised her head to stick her tongue out playfully at Nathaniel, but the sight of Nathaniel cover in blood made her scream.
Angelina screamed from her dream, looking around to see she was still in the cold room. She groaned, feeling her head pound intensively and her stomach knotting like she had a cramp.
She saw a struggling Nathaniel who wanted to help himself up, and his chair had been turned down, making it look uncomfortable for him to be tied to it. Nathaniel's face was on the ground, actually kissing his floor as he looked like someone prostrating.
Angelina tried to move her body, but it was heavy. She grunted, feeling pain skyrocket from her head to all over her body. Damn! Mr. L hit her hard. She could feel her neck stiff from the hit.
"Are you awake?" Nathaniel asked. The relief could be detected in his voice. When he was trying to move to Angelina earlier, the chair stumbled on a stone, and the chair tripped, making him in this awkward position.
"Yes dear," Angelina responded, first stretching her hand. She felt the numbness leaving her body as she groaned, taking a small danger on the table and cutting the robe, freeing his hands, but it was impossible for him to remove it because his fingers had been nailed.
Angelina pushed the chair head up, taking the pincer to remove the nails drilled between Nathaniel's fingers. She paused when she heard the shuffle of footsteps at the other side of the bed. She moved swiftly to the door, and she ducked her breath when the door was opened with a creaking sound.
The green-eyed man that Nathaniel had deduced to be the fake client walked in and scouted the room to find Angelina missing as he wanted to shout in alarm. Angelina jumped on him, making him fall without giving him prior awareness. She stabbed him in the back of his neck with the dagger she picked. She continued to stab him until his body became immobile. She wiped the blood splattered on her face.
It's like help is coming late, Nathaniel thought, nodding at Angelina, who looked like bloodlust. Angelina went back to her work and removed the nails, making Nathaniel stretch his stretched hands. His hands were throbbing and trembling from pain. Angelina cut the rope tied on his legs also and helped him up.
Nathaniel nearly fell; there was no energy in his legs; with the help of Angelina, they worked out of the room. It was not time for survival.
Angelina gripped the dagger tightly while Nathaniel held the drill. They nodded at each other, using the wall for support, limping through the stairs while holding each other as if their life depended on it.
Nathaniel had a gut feeling because it was too silent for them not to meet a single suit man running after them. It wasn't possible for all of them to be busy at the time. But he didn't voice out his concern not to alarm Angelina.
Angelina's body was in an alarming mood (kill or be killed), but she didn't bat an eyelash when she stabbed the green-eyed man repeatedly in the room.
When they got to the grand floor, as they wanted to take a step, they were surrounded by men pointing guns at them. Any single move could lead to death.
Like he'd known! Mr. L gave them joy for them to feel they were safe.
"What do we have here?" Mr. L came forward, expressionless, with a pistol playing in his hand. "You think you can fucking leave her alive after strangling my daughter!" he yelled, raising the gun at Nathaniel.
"Your daughter fucking deserved that!" Angelina let out, staring at the man's eyes without trembling or flinching. Nathaniel was in awe of his wife. The boldness, the courage, and the smartness made her fall over again.
"You are still talking!"
"Should I?" Angelina released Nathaniel's hand and took steps closer to the man, "I'm frustrated, I'm angry, I'm going crazy. I feel like killing you. The voices in my head keep wanting blood!" she yelled, her eyes never backed down and there was just a short distance from Mr. L. She held Mr. L hand tightly as the man visible gulped and scared. She pointed the gun at her head and smirked mockingly after noticing the trembling on his hand on the trigger.
"I fucking dare you to pull the trigger," she grinned as the man crumbled under Angelina's pressure. She successfully collected the gun from him, making his men automatically drop their weapons.
Angelina gripped the gun tightly, looking at it before throwing it at Nathaniel, who caught it immediately; they smiled and each other, but their happiness was short lifted when they heard a cock of a gun; Angelina turned to see the wheeled daughter had come out with a gun in her hand and pointed at Nathaniel.
As she released the trigger, everything happened in slow motion. The distance between Angelina and Nathaniel was long, but how did it get shortened in a moment, and a heart-shaking anguish scream was released.
Angelina coughed out blood as her body lay on Nathaniel's lap. She grinned; her teeth were coated in blood. "I'm okay," she smiled and wiped the tears on Nathaniel's face.
"Angelina," he sobbed.
"Everyone freeze," the sound of gunshots and people screaming and talking faded into the background as Nathaniel focused on Angelina, who was gasping for air, and Angelina, who was feeling her head throb again.
"You look ugly when you cry," she heaved, "I married a strong man, not a crybaby," she whispered, before groaning in pain, "I can't see you very well,"
"Stop talking, Angie," holding her hands tightly, he could feel them cold and slipping from his grasp.
"I β I βI β" her voice trailed before a gurgling sound slipped from her mouth, "in our next life, let's be husband and wife again," she smiled, her breathing hard, "Let's have a happy ending," her eyes rolled, the pupils dilating, "and I love youβ"
Everything stopped, and Nathaniel's breathing shuddered, shaking Angelina for any reactions, "Angie, please talk to me," he cried, "I love you too. In our next life, let's be husband and wife, let's have a happy ending," he rambled out, holding her body tightly as his body trembling in tears.
A raw anguish scream left his lips as he hugged her body, not wanting to part away from her.
