LEO
“There!” Emmet hisses as he glares up at me with hatred. Dad frowns, looking at him sharply.
“How could you enter a place that is scarred with so much darkness?”
“Because no one would ever think to look there,” I say quietly, taking a step back from the bastard on the floor. “None of us would ever think one of us would even step into that place willingly…” I look at the metal walls of the cell, flashes of the dark stone walls of the caverns returning to the forefront of my mind.
He smirks coldly, “You’re too late…”
“Oh yeah? We’ll see about that. Why did you taint the drugs?” I ask. His smirk falters, and he clenches his jaw as if not wanting to answer.
“Why do you think? The more that die… because of you, the worse you would feel… you were never one of us, Leo. You were always one of them!” He hisses.
So, his only incentive was to make me feel guilty. How blinded I was to think he actually considered me a brother, but even I know when someone is too far gone to get through to.
“And you thought you’d kill two fucking birds with one stone… the drugs you stole, you probably sold them to fund your shit?”
“If you already know, why ask?” Emmet hisses, his gaze flickering to Azura. “Seems like the bitch is here to stay... this pack is no longer ours.”
“Watch it!” Dad growls as I grab him by the collar and slam him against the wall, my anger tearing through me. Blistering white-hot fury flashes through me.
“That is your Luna,” I snarl, my grip tightening around his throat. He laughs.
“See? Just like them, abuse -”
“Actually, if Leo was like ‘them’, then you wouldn’t be alive right now,” Azura says, stepping forward and holding the heavy-duty staple gun in her hand. Okay, so maybe that shit might do a little damage… “And… I owe you something for trying to kill my baby. Since you hate us so-called Elite, I’m going to behave just like how you think we do.”
She raises the gun, pressing it to his cheek; he turns his head, but she is faster, pressing on the lever. It goes off, and he hisses, the staple embedded into his cheek.
“You bitch!”
“That one is for my baby, and this one is for kicking me.”
She slams the gun on his nose, and I hear something break, his head slamming back against the wall before she staples him right on the bridge of his nose. He growls, thrashing in my hold, trying to attack her, but I keep him in place. Her heart is thundering as she glares at him.
“This one’s for Jackie.” Another shot goes into his neck, and I see Dad wince from the corner of my eye.
“Don’t act brave when you can’t even handle me!” Emmet hisses.
“Bitch, please, I fucking can,” she snaps, stepping back. Just when I think she is done, she slams the gun into his dick, making him roar in pain. “And this one is for betraying my man.” The gun goes off, and he sure as hell gets hurt because he howls like a fucking idiot, and I drop him to the ground.
Tell me, Leo, do dick piercings hurt? Because I sure hope that one hurt him, she says through the link. Smirking faintly, I glance at her, seeing the raw anger in her eyes, her chest heaving as she glares down at him.
Not really for me, but then again, I don’t mind pain. As for this bastard, it’s clear you caused him some pain, I reply. Our eyes meet, and I slowly move her away.
“You will be trialled, and your fate will be decided,” I say, only for him to nod slowly as if he already understood that.
“Then I guess you must be prepared for your truth to come out. Does your old man know?”
“Yeah, not that it’s your fucking business. I’m ready to speak the fucking truth,” I say coldly, glaring down at him. “Judah Gallahan, do you know him? Or ever heard of him?”
“And answer truthfully,” Dad adds, his command rolling off him. Emmet frowns but shakes his head.
“No, but I think your woman knows him pretty well since they fucking created some pretty neat sex videos -”
An animalistic growl fills the air, and it takes me a few seconds to realise it is mine as I grab him, throwing him against the far wall. My wolf’s rage bleeds in with my own.
“How do you know that?” I snarl.
“Leo. It’s fine,” Azura says, placing a hand on my back. My eyes are blazing, the anger bubbling past the surface, and Dad moves her back, shaking his head.
“Wouldn’t you like to... know…” Emmet mutters through gritted teeth.
He smirks, and before Dad can enforce his command, he bites down on his tongue, groaning in pain before blood begins spilling from his mouth. Azura gasps as the smell of blood fills the air, and he spits his tongue out, shocking us all.
The sick bastard has bitten it off.
Emmet lets out a choked laugh, and I know there is no way I am going to get the answer from him right now.
“Fool,” Dad growls. “Shall we move him to a cell without silver? We can ask him through the link once he’s recovered.”
“No. I don’t want him even having the chance to mind-link anyone. He’ll be trialled, and if he fucking wants to defend himself, he can use those hands to write. Otherwise, I don’t give a fuck if he breaks them both, too,” I growl, delivering a powerful kick to his shoulder and knocking him back onto the now bloody floor. I’m not one to kick a man when he’s down… but he fucking deserves it. “I’m heading to the caverns.” Turning, I take Azura’s hand, guiding her out of the cell. I glance at the guards, who wait for Marcel to step out before locking the door. “Make sure no one visits him.”
I made sure there are always four guards who are rotated often, so even if one was to betray me, there would be three to watch. Plus, I have the entire place under surveillance. The only time they open the door is once a day for food, and that tray is searched thoroughly, too. We reach the main floor when Eric approaches. Disappointment and shame are clear in his eyes as he lowers his head to us.
“I’m sorry, Alpha.”
“No need to be,” I reply. Although I know the brothers were never close, it is obvious Eric saw through Emmet when I did not…
“Thanks,” he says before giving Azura a big smile. She grins back, but there is something devilish cooking in that brain of hers.
“Oh, Eric, before the Alpha ceremony, I need you to come visit me.” He raises his eyebrows but nods.
“I will. Can I ask why?” He looks a little nervous, not that I fucking blame him. He watches Azura tuck the staple gun back into her bag before looking up at her again.
“Can’t say,” she smirks, giving him a wink before waving at him as we pass. Her smile fades when she turns to me.
Let’s go.
I don’t want to take her down there… but out of everyone, I’d rather it be her with me down there. I also want her with me just in case something goes down…
“We’re heading out. Let Corrado know I’ll be late. I’ll tell Winona to put him to bed,” I tell Dad, who nods.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to come with you, Leo?” I shake my head.
“No, I don’t think that’s a place you fucking need to go to…” He sighs heavily and nods.
“Don’t go alone.”
“I won't, I'll take back up.” He nods slowly.
“I presume Jax…. Ace…”
“They are part of the Six, my most trusted,” I explain.
“I figured as much. I know now is not the time, but you should consider who you will make your Beta and Delta. We only have six days until the ceremony,” Dad says quietly. My Beta and Delta…
“I’ll have a think,” I reply before slipping my hand around Azura’s waist and leading her away.
